update...just bought a BLUE DSI XL on amazon for £125.
Free delivery.
Also bought a game and accessory kit for £5 ( not much choice).
Does anyone know the cheapest retailer for the BLUE DSI XL as current. A quick search tells me its John Lewis, but just wanted to confirm they're the cheapest at £125, before I order. I would go for the amazon offer stated above, but it seems they've changed it now and the DS is £140 and then amounts to £157 when a game and accesory kit are added. So annoying that I've seen hundreds of old offers on DSi XLs' that are cheaper then they are now! What ever happened to product depreciation, even more so after the 3DS has been released.
If anyone could suggest a cheaper or worth it deal I'd be grateful :rotfl:0 -
Hi,
Looking at sending back my 3DS in the next couple of days as it causing me headache and most of the time the 3D turned off so really don't see the point in spending the extra cash.
I do still want a DS but wondered which is the best model to go for? The 3DS was my first and have no experience of any of the older models so just looking for advice. Thanks0 -

Not sure if this is of any use or not but Netto have the White DSi in for £89.99, the offer started yesterday but I think only lasts for a few days.

Hi
I looked at this thread a couple of weeks ago to find a good price for a DSi but then didnt get chance to buy it.
Anyway, yeserday I bought a DSi from GAME online for £89.99. There's a few colours to choose from but I saw that they were also offering a new DSi with a Pokemon game for the same £89.99 - so that was the one I bought.
Great price and a 'free' game too.
Hope this helps.0 -

Thanks in advance.
Update: Couldn't risk it, LOL. I bought the Amazon one. I couldn't believe it in John Lewis they're up to £146 now, crazy!! Game, online say £89.99 New but they're £119 instore?!0 -

My little boy wants a DS for his birthday which is at the end of November. What kind of price is average for this item now? I don't want the 3ds one as not too keen (nephew has one and seems to make him squint to see it much more than normal version!) and just wondered if there are any deals around??
Also, i am a bit wary of buying now (if say there was a good deal on) in case i randomly get a duff one which doesnt work when opened but if i had bought it 2 months earlier, shop wouldnt accept return etc.... am i silly to buy this early even if i get a good deal?
Last thing - if i get him one of these, is it likely that nintendo will bring out another soon (dont know how old the current model is...??) which will make it impossible to get games which go on the current one?
Thanks for any help!
I really have no clue about these DS things lol!Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0 -

The current 'standard' DS models are the DSi and the DSi XL (simply a larger screen) which are available for around £109.99 and £129.99 respectively from places like Amazon for the console on its own. However, the best deal is probably the Pokemon Black Exclusinve package available from GAME for £109.99 for the console and game.
It's highly unlikely that Nintendo will release any more versions of the DS console because the 3DS is the next generation of DS hardware. It's not just a DSi or XL with 3D - it'a a whole new console. That's something that Nintendo have not marketed well so far, with a lot of people thinking that the 3DS is just the DSi 'with 3D', but it's not.
It's also worth noting that you can turn the 3D down so that you don't have to play in 3D if you don't want to.
Because of bad marketing, the 3DS has sold very badly so far which means you can get it now for as low as £157 from online sites such as Gamestop BUT as of August 12th the prices will be dropping massively across nearly all retailers and might be available from places like Amazon at prices in the region of £125 - only just above the current price point of the DSi.
So, my advice (after all that) is to wait until 12th August and then look what kind of deals you can get on the 3DS. It is the next generation of handheld from Nintendo so most future titles released will only be compatible with that system and not the older DS's. If you still want to get a DSi or XL then, maybe, retailers will also slash the prices of these consoles on the 12th making them good short-term purchases.0
