Mobile Screen Replacement Costs

Why are mobile phone screen replacement costs so expensive? It is a common problem that occasionally people accidentally drop their phones and the screen cracks. I am astounded at the astronomical cost of replacing the screen. Surely this should be priced more affordably for people?
Can anyone advise me the best place to go and get my new Samsung A7 screen replaced without being ripped off? I've had quotes from £110-£150, which is appalling. It is extortion. As you can tell, this is the first time that I have cracked the screen. Any tips please? Thank you.

You can buy just the glass for under £10, or the whole screen unit from China is apx £40, or £60 on ebay UK, looks like you need to pull the phone apart rather than just take the screen off like some.
