Major issue with Currys Washing machine advice needed

Hey all

I am just looking for some advice on how to go about complaining and dealing with this issue I have had with currys and a washing machine.
I paid for the machine to be installed and delivered. The product turned up with a two man team who carried it upstairs and then installed it. They showed me it was running and I signed for it.

Fast forward 3 weeks and a huge section of the ceiling below me has collapsed. Its a grade two listed building and the original beams and floorboards are intact but very wet, just the plasterboard has collapsed.
I also have major water damage to the floor under the kitchen upstairs where the washing machine is. After the collapse I investigated and the leak was coming from the water inlet on the washing machine.
Nothing faulty it just hadn't been tightened up all the way when it was installed. so everything was working fine its just been dripping from the day of installation, which has had catastrophic consequences for the building and me.
What are me rights here? I'm really not sure how to complain or what I can ask currys to do about this. In my opinion they are to blame as they have failed to install the product correctly and this has caused major damage and financial outlay for me. Any advice, ideas and comments are welcome. Thanks in advance.

You should be entitled to any consequential losses that have resulted in the negligence of the installers. Your first port of cal is to contact Currys and take it from there. The likelihood is they'll pass it on to their insurance team to deal with.

How did you pay for the machine and installation?
If it was on a credit card then providing that it can be shown that the installers caused the problem, the credit card issuer is jointly and equally liable along with the retailer.
This means that there would be nothing to stop you pursuing the card issuer rather than Currys but it does make sense to see what Currys say & do first.

Hello. Thanks for the advice. I paid on a debit card so I don't think I can chase my bank for it. Hopefully currys provide me with a solution. The thing i'm worried about is proving that the installation caused the problem. I am certain it was them because I literally just tightened the fitting and it stopped dripping. However Im not sure how to prove this.
