Hi,
I received a text today from Three Mobile
“Hi, we're increasing some of our Outside of Allowance and Additional Service costs. For full details click !!!!!!/3_Changes”
This will affect me and i have spoken to Three who confirmed the changes. I explained i was not happy and wanted to cancel early without a charge. They gave me a PAC code to keep my mobile number but advised me that a supervisor will call me back to discuss the early termination fee. I have looked at my T’s and C’s and it does say i can cancel due to these changes but they seemed reluctant to do so. Is there any information i can quote them specifically to get my charges waived to cancel or any help if anyone else has received this text today.
Thanks

Which part of your Ts&Cs say you can cancel early for out of allowance price increases? The MSE article suggests you can't unless you can prove the rise is a 'materially detrimental change' for you.

How much extra per month are these increased charges going to cost you?0 -
I'm in a similar situation. I'm unhappy with the price increase, and want to use this to escape my contract. I can accept small price increases (e.g. inline with inflation), but these are huge! As an example (using my most common call destinations):
- Calls to Norway are going from £0.46.min to £1.25/min
- Calls to USA, Canada, Australia and NZ are going from £0.56/min to £1.75/min
That's a 172% increase and a 212% increase respectively. More than twice and three times the cost! even making a small number of calls per year, this is significant.
Now, I could go and calculate the number of these calls I've made in the previous year or two, and use that to show "material damage", but how much additional annual cost would justify "material damage"? If this costs me £20 extra per year? £50?0 -

4.2 We may change any of the terms of your agreement, including our Packages or
prices, on the following basis:
(a) we'll let you know at least one month in advance if we decide to:
(ii) make any changes to your agreement which are (in our reasonable opinion)
likely to be of material detriment to you. You can end the agreement for such
changes as explained in Section 10;
10.1(d) within one month of us telling you about a variation to your agreement (which
includes your Package) which is likely (in our reasonable opinion) to be of material
detriment to you. You must give notice to Three Customer Services within that
month and your agreement will finish at the end of that month once we receive
your notice.
10.2(d) the change relates to a variation in our Charges for our Outside of Allowance
Services and such changes are not (in our reasonable opinion) likely to be of
material detriment to you or you don't (in our reasonable opinion) regularly use
the Outside of Allowance Services affected0 -
It could be 1p, if you can show you would be worse off then you should be able to leave, it normally goes on the previous 3 months.
If the OP isn't beyond their minimum term then you could also take in account future usage. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
