    Hi,

I dont want to start a heated debate and I realise this is a very hot topic, but I couldn't read and not post.

My younger brother, who is now 12, had the MMR at normal age. I was 15 at this time, quite a big age gap. We knew nothing then about the links to Austism so I can only tell you what we witnessed.

About 1/2/3 weeks after the jab, he just was not himself. Simple. Before the jab he was crawling and progressins well, starting to say words and do actions. After the jab...he just stared into space and did a high pitched loud scream all the time. It was very strange. My Mum took him to the doctor as soon as she noticed, she said she just knew something wasn;t right. They told her she was being paranoid because of the age gap.

This went on for years til he was about 4/5. he didn't speak a word until christmas Eve when he was 5. It was during this time that he was at a special nursey school and one of his 'teachers' who was totally unqualified decided to tell my Mum 'oh but dont you know hes autistic'. So, we went on the internet and the whole family got upset at what we read.

hes now 12, he cant stop talking..but he goes to a special school and has learning difficulties aswell as mobility issues.

Until this day, my Mum, me and my sister know that something changed in him after the injection. I cant prove it I know, but we all feel it. There was nothing else around that time that was any different and the change was very swift.

I am just saying that no matter how paranoid or irratic you feel it is always worth trying to do something about it as you never know, it may help.

I hope it is nothing, but it is good that you notice changes.

my close mate had the same experience with her son - it's like he changed overnight - the week before the jab he was at my son's birthday party & was running around like all little boys his age with the other kids - he had the jab & he just became so withdrawn, would have spells when he would just stand there & have mini fits called 'absences' by the medical profession - she's had to fight all the way to keep him in mainstream school & have him statemented thru out his education - I saw him about 3 months after my sons party (they no longer live close by) & it's like she brought a different child with her

her & her husband are convinced it was the jab & when they had their other son they had to fight for him to have the jabs separate

I do hope that your little one is alright & is just feeling a bit poorly after the jab

This thread may be relevant to another ongoing thread re vaccination, maybe the people who posted here with their very real experiences could add somenthing to the current thread?.
  • As Tiamai_D said, the link between autism and MMR has been "debunked". How many of us had the MMR jag? How many people do you know have had it and not had any ill effects? Yes, there will be some scare stories, and if you're at all worried about a change in your child's behaviour then see a doctor, but I'd advise people not to scaremonger on here.

my daughter was ok with it... but tbh if i read then what i know now i wouldnt have let her have it atall
  • I've had it, as has the rest of my family, and the majority of people that I grew up with. I don't believe that the doctors would give us something that's unsafe, and I would let them give the jag any children I had unless there was some concrete evidence that links MMR with autism.

My son was allergic to egg and the predeccessor of the MMR was based on egg so I was advised to refuse it for both my children. Roll forward to Y1 at uni my ds got a nasty dose of mumps and my dd caught it from him. both were very ill.

He had measles at 7 months which is pre MMR age so he was unlucky, he was in hospital and very poorly but seems to have no lasting effects from it.

  • My 3 children had it and are fine.
My friend says that her first child had it and is autistic, so refused to let her second child have the jab. He is autistic too.

    No link - just hereditery?

MMR uptake has reduced significantly over the last 10 years. Autism diagnoses has increased significantly so no link.
