  • Re Parking,

What we always do (if coming from North), is park next to OAKWOOD Tube station, most of the roads around there have no restrictions very residential, about 3 mons walk to the tube,

Its also safe we have often left our car there for 2 week whilst going on Holiday from Heathrow (Saves over £100 to park at airport). then just a travelcard fare

Anyone coming from outside London North would recommend that as a good dumping ground for your car, "Thats what we will be doing on the 8th" especially now Midland Mainline is on strike so no trains down from the midlands.

    That sounds good vicky, thanks.

Any idea how much it will cost from oakwood to st pancras, not too much i would imagine.
  • Not sure as we use a Family railcard to get a 30% discount on the 1 Day Travel Card price, but I figure the 1 day travel card will be the cheapest option,. We are using the oportunity for a meal out in the evening and then Theatre.

I understand that they will cover drving at 41p a mile (up to £25 per person).

So for us 135 miles each way = 270 * 41p = £110.70 (£100 as there are 4 of us in the car at £25 max each)

Figure the fuel for the round trip will be £40 so £60 to cover meal and other odds and sods, makes it a nice day out

Plus of course the free EStar Tickets for next year is a nice one as well!

Nice idea but you will have to provide receipts of the petrol, for each person. I suggest you start keeping you receipts now, they won't know when you used the fuel to get to the testing!

Yes I already checked this with them by phone, they said as we were travelling in 1 car they were happy for petrol receipts to £100 and for one person to make a joint claim for all 4. (Receipts already stashed for use. Cheers)
