Sizing Gas Fire

I am looking to install a balanced flue gas fire into our living room. I have been able to work out the size of fire I need (~3-4kW) based upon the room size (61 cubic metres) and the level of insulation (medium). The fire which our local supplier has recommended delivers from 2.7kW to 9kW but am concerned about choosing a fire with a maximum heat output that appears so large and am worried that we may only be able to operate it during the very coldest part of the year (and not to take the chill off on a cold spring evening).
I can only find advice on the internet about sizing a fire and nothing about how the maximum output would be to live with so any advice would be much appreciated.

I'd go for a couple of 2kW heaters.
You'd only need to use the second heater in extremely cold weather.
You'd have to open the windows to keep the temperature down to a comforatble level at 9KW output ... and that would be literally throwing your money out the window.0 -

Two gas heaters in the same room??0 -
A very inefficient way of heating the room if you have a modern boiler installed. Personally, I would stick to radiators and if that doesn't heat the room sufficiently, it is undersized. Flueless gas fires are more efficient, but you will often need a vent to the outside that leads to drafts.
In regards to sizing, use a heat loss calculator, then get a fire with a greater output, you can always run the fire on a lower setting.
Typically fires are 3-7kW, flueless are under 3kW.
