Under-sink plumbing Nightmare

Hi,

We bought our house a few months ago and realised quite quickly that the plumbing under the sink had been bodged. We have a 1 and a quarter sink with a washing machine and dishwasher either side. I can’t attach a photo to show what’s going in on unfortunately.

The sink overflow drains into the quarter sink Waste.

The quarter sink, washing machine, dishwasher and sink all share the same waste which means that when the washing machine drains, the water comes up the sink drain. It all gets a bit smelly!

I’m hoping someone here has a bit of plumbing knowledge and can tell me what I need to do/what I need to buy to get everything sorted.

Thanks!

A photo is really going to help - host somewhere else and post a (broken) link.

In the meantime make sure the waste hoses from both the washing machine and dishwasher arch up above the level of where they join the waste pipe and then back down to the joins. You may need to tie them up.

That in itself may be enough, depends how "botched" it is.

Advert? On youtube, how quaint you don't block those. Or indeed think it is the same one for everyone.

Anyway. Rant. This video is 100% everything wrong with the internet today. A video is inefficient for disparting information. Waffle Waffle Waffle. Can we get back to nice web pages with pictures please. Was wanting to kill myself to make it stop before two minutes were up. Thankfully I reallised there was a close tab button.

Looks like the washer out is going into the sink overflow. That's dumb. in fact it all looks bad. Repalce the lot with nice proper stuff from screwfix (other outlets are available, but don't go to their other brand B&Q unless you want to spend 84 hours searching for the right bits among the mess!). The inlet should be after the trap!

Where does the main sink overflow go? Just into the cupboard?

    Pretty rude.

You know I am not OP. And yes video's suck and I can rant about them if I like. However please don't moan at OP for something he did not do. Surely you have something that you like to moan about?

Or was it OP's picture that scared you. It did look a bit contrived.

I'm out because I'm trying to help and you are sniping at the replies

I know you are not the OP....but maybe you or someone else will say something that actually helped

My reply was "sarcasm" aimed at you but it seemed to pass over your head

The sink overflow goes into the quarter sink waste (it’s the white flexipipe). Screwfix is near my work, but I don’t know what parts to ask for. Would I be better taking the photo to a plumber’s merchants and pleading stupidity? :rotfl:
