Flight booking advice

Hi,
I am wanting to go to Japan the end of the summer for 3 weeks. I have been searching flights and found some at the right price.
However I don't have a credit card. Only a debit account. Am I safe to book through Expedia this way?
Flights are with Asiana Airlines and I have the option to book direct with them for 17 pounds more.
Would love some advice here as I want to get them booked.
I do have travel insurance option with Expedia and I have some with my bank account.

If you can book direct I would do so IMHO.
Simplifies things if you need to change or other unexpected things happen.
Debit card is not Section 75 protected but IMHO you should be fine with Air Asia

I've been reading up on it. I banished CC a long time ago, but Asiana Airlines seem to have a good rating.
Expedia fine print seems like it doesn't really have to sort any issues if it doesn't want to.
The section 75 thing irks me a little. Am I being to paranoid? I worked hard for this money for the flights. I only deal cash or debit no overdraft.0 -

I've used Expedia once for a room booking and had to change things.
Got very complicated and took a while to get my refund.
CS was India I believe.
I've had Air Asia flights and had to ring their CS-got airline tickets in wrong surname\first name.
Not an issue sorted straight away and English was not a problem.
Unless there is a HUGE saving then ALWAYS book direct.
Not sure why you have banished CC's:cool:
Used wisely
they can enhance spending and give section 75 "insurance"
BTW
You only need to pay the first £100 with a CC to get the section 75 "insurance"
The rest can be debit card or Ca$h
Have fun in Japan.
Threads on here re Rail tickets and places to go etc

I know they can be of use and benefit but I just like to spend what I earn.
I've gone direct and in the process of booking now. It's 60 quid cheaper and don't have to trasnfer between INC and GIM in S. Korea.
Thanks for the advice, I am going to have to debit card the lot though.0 -

So, in order to benefit from the advantages of paying with a CC, open a separate bank account and set up a direct debit to pay the full balance of the CC every month. Then, whenever you pay for something with the CC, transfer the money from your usual bank account to the new account the direct debit is paid from.
Money is no longer in your usual account (just as if you'd paid by debit card) and the CC gets paid off in full every month
You get all the advantages without the temptation/risk of running up CC debt.
Also, another vote here for booking direct.Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0
