Name change

Morning all, this is my first post so please be gentle with me!

Myself and my husband separated a year ago I would like to go back to my maiden name. I'm aware that I don't need to change my name by deed poll but for the sake of keeping thing simple I feel it will be the easiest thing to do. Also we will not divorce until we have been separated for 2 years as it is very amicable and this is the only grounds that fit out situation.

My question to you is, is it as simple as this website makes it seem? Also does this website seem legitimate in that I could use this website and it would be accepted by the DVLA and banks for example.

It wont let me post a link as a new user, so it is www. free deed poll . org. uk without all the spaces

I thank anyone who is willing to offer help and advice.

As far as I know you can be addressed whichever way you wish as long as it is not to defraud others.

Your maiden name is your name, you don't need to do anything, you have your birth certificate, use that as evidence of your name.

Correct. You don't use a deed poll to change to a married name, and you don't need one to change back - it is still your name.

Urmmmmm how is it not easier to just use your name? Surely getting a deed poll is more work?

I left my ex, and didn't divorce until we had lived apart 2 years. I went straight into using my name at day 1 of split.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

But getting 'officialdom' to recognise the change isn't always that easy...

    My apologies.

Advice still stands though - a deed poll is an unnecessary.

Each time I also try to post too as it really was so easy. I took my birth certificate and marriage license and managed to change everything, including bank, drivers, passport, c tax.

You were lucky, I've got most things changed now but it's taken me since last July and there are two things I've pretty much given up on as they're being so difficult.
I think I might also have to cancel my life insurance and take out a new policy as no matter what other documents I've given them, they're still not happy.
It shouldn't be so difficult but, IME, it has been :(

But, as I posted the last time round, why do you have to change absolutely everything - why, for example, do you have to change your insurance policy? As a divorced woman, you have every right to use your (ex) husband's name as you did when you were married.
