Evans Halshaw Move Me Closer Scam
Options
Hi All.
After seeing a car on Evans Halshaw i liked i decided id enquire and get the vehicle moved closer to view it. I sorted the request over the website and paid a deposit to get it moved. I was then called by my desired branch to attend an appointment to get my car valued and arrange a deal (before vehicle could be booked to be moved) this was all sorted and vehicle was moved. I was also made to sign a vehicle order form to complete the request
A few days after arriving i went up to view car to find it in a terrible state, covered in marks and scuffs. Alloys all bubbling with rust etc..... told them i wanted to pull out of the deal due to condition of car but because we had apparantly signed the vehicle order form we cant back out of deal even though it was signed before we had viewed car.
This is the paragraph on Evans Halshaw:
9. Where a Customer attends an Appointment and notifies Evans Halshaw, on the day of the Appointment that they do not want to Purchase the Vehicle, the Reservation Fee will be refunded by way of credit to the payment card used in accordance with Clause 5 within three Working Days.
Is it right what they are saying or are they trying to screw me over to get the sale..

They have/are screwing you over. Don't sign no order form until you've seen the car.0

Print out their own T&C, highlight that part you've posted, shove it in their face and ask them when they're going to refund your money. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

and take a few close up photos of the car if its still there - just in case you need to back up a claim later.0
-
Not sure what documents you have signed but we have bought 2 cars using the Move me Closer and have only ever paid a deposit of £200 to get the car moved and on both occasions we were offered a refund if we didn't want to carry on with the purchase. We have never signed any paper work before seeing the car in person.0

Sounds like you have an even more than usual dodgy branch of EH.
You should not have been made to sign the order. Complaign a lot and preferably on social media until they are shamed into a refund.
Disclosure, I have bought from EH twice, once from EH branded and again from some weird other brand they tried for a bit. I got bargains both times. Oh actually it was three times, wrote one car off and bought the same but 5 doors a few months later. Thankfully I did not take their offer of gap insurance on a second hand car as I was paid out more than I paid them for it. With EH expect them to only clean the car before they give it to you. No service that they claim to do and probably no "real" MOT. Just them printing one. Still you can get a bargain on cars they have had hanging around for a while (they reduce to get rid).0 -
Well they promised us they would get all the problems repaired etc...
So we gave them a chance as we like the car etc...
Its been almost 4 weeks now and we are still waiting for the car to come out of the body shop. I've had cars go in in the past for major work and have been in for a week maximum.
Its getting to the point now where we are loosing interest in the car0 -
Take the opportunity to cancel and find a different car unless it's so rare this is the only one available.0
-
They wont let me cancel untill i've seen the car and decide whether or not i am happy with it or not, even then i can see me having a hell of a lot of trouble at convicing them to let me have my deposit back.
Makes me wish i hadnt of bothered now to be honest. A simple task has turned into a right ballache.0 -
On 23rd May 2018 I paid my deposit to have a 64 plate Mercedes ML250 moved from Stratstone Land Rover Cardiff to Kia Hull. The vehicle was on sale for in excess of £23000.
I received a receipt for my money which stated the vehicle reg. was CF62FBY ( NOT A 64 PLATE AS ADVERTISED). I immediately rang the help desk who tried to speak to the Cardiff showroom. No answer. The next morning I rang Kia Hull only to have to phone picked up and put down on me twice.
I then E mailed the Pendragon Enquiry Team - Still No Answer
I then E mailed the Evans Halshaw Enquiry Team - Still No Answer.
I sent the e mails to assist the company in that I didn't want to test drive a 62 plate vehicle.
I then filled in a form for the Evans Halshaw Customer Concern Portal and received an undertaking that they would ring me within 24 hours - they never rang.
In desperation on 7th June 2018, I sent a registered letter to the CEO of Pendragon - Mr FINN - Still No Answer.
Eventually the 'dealer principal' from Kia Hull rang but could not give an explanation.
The vehicle had not arrived in Hull and had miraculously disappeared from the website.
Still no refund. However Stratstone Cardiff did attempt to re-advertise the Mercedes again until I passed comment and again it miraculously was no longer advertised.
I was promised the refund last week and even gave my bank details.
Still no refund.
SO, IN SHORT - CHECK THE VEHICLE YOU PAY TO HAVE DELIVERED IS THE ONE YOU SEE AND WANT TO TEST DRIVE AND BE PREPARED TO BE WITHOUT YOUR DEPOSIT FOR A CONSIDERABLE TIME IF YOU DON'T BUY THE CAR.
I could go further but hopefully you get the gist of my tale.0 -

I see you posted these here as well so i will put what i said on the other thread:
CF62FBY was first registered on the 14/11/2014 so actually it would have originally been on a 64 plate when it was first put on the road. Someone has obviously put a private plate on it.
So basically you made all that fuss just because the number plate had a 2 on it instead of a 4. I really don't see why you refused to test drive it because of that?0
