Not totally sure where to put this ...
Hi, quick q, what’s the cheapest way to travel to London, from Leeds by train, albeit first class, with not that much notice ie mid may, during the week ? it doesn’t have to be during rush hour though..
Is there a rail card you can get or a discount card ? I haven’t done it in years..
Also looking to stay overnight, just for 1 night in Paddington. & its for just 2 adults.
Maybe Travel down in the eve, stay over 1 night & then travel back the following eve ..
Any advice gratefully received, Thank you xx

Look at Virgin East Coast and also Grand Central services from Bradford or Wakefield
IIRC the two together railcard gives discounts for first class, its £30.0 -
Which Leeds and which London? - There are around fifteen Leeds and 28 Londons that fall under the remit of this board!0

Hello.
I've looked at Virgin Trains East Coast web site. I picked 22 May returning 23rd. Advance purchase 1st class single for 2 people from Leeds to London on the 17.15 departure was £110 without the use of a Two Together Railcard but £72.60 with such a card. The 19.03 departure from London offers higher fares (Advance Purchase fares are rationed) of £110.90 with railcard. A railcard costs £30. So you could do the round trip for about £233.
To get these fares you have to book in advance as soon as you know that you will definitely travel, there are no refunds, and you must travel on the specific train. Otherwise the fare is £215 each way!
You must obtain the railcard before you travel, but you can book the tickets on-line before you have bought the railcard.0
