Still down about 2% but I'm active. VLS 60 will be looking at similar. VLS100 will be looking at -3%.

For fun anyone buying Lindsell Train IT mid Jan would be up about 25%.

Yes, I was more interested in how passive funds/trackers such as VLS 100 or Vanguard Global All Cap would perform in a correction or downturn as opposed to an active portfolio and I realise this totally depends on the chosen active portfolio. Nevertheless, I have stated my own portfolio lost 7.5 per cent and is now back to the highest point of the portfolio.

I think I've covered half of your ponderings.

I love the expression "correction". Did the Wehrmacht suffer a correction at Stalingrad?
Free the dunston one next time too.

I'm glad that I bought a load of funds on 23 March - perfect timing, but mostly luck, that they have all gone up significantly in the past weeks.

However, just as an exercise I calculated a rough valuation of the constituents in their original currencies (notwithstanding that many are international firms which do business in multiple countries) and when accounting for the fall in GBP since time of purchase, the gain is minimal.

It's ridiculous terminology. They are just market movements based on all the factors that give rise to such movements! Correction implies something wrong is being corrected which in turn implies an error in prices which is clearly garbage as prices simply reflect buy/ sell forces pushing in opposite directions and always achieving equilibrium as a result, wherever on the scale that might be at any given point in time.

I don't know anything about Stalingrad but an analogous argument could probably be had for that too.

I've just had a bit too much to drink this evening and experienced a correction in my mental state. The large kebab that preceded this activity was also a correction, I'm sure.

Hahaha that was hilarious... Stalingrad was the beginning of a correction - The 3rd Battle of Kharkov was the recovery from the correction. Kursk onward was a total Bear Market, till German Bankruptcy in 1945:D

I suppose using "correction" makes people feel better about it. A bit like "bear market" - who doesn't love bears! :)
