Best flight options for Scotland to San Francisco

It can be a bit confusing at times with the many fight checkers as to find the cheapest option (fly direct or perhaps somewhere nearby and connect internally). I am looking to work out the cheapest option to fly from Scotland (Aberdeen) to San Francisco over the summer at some point. The last time I paid a fortune to fly to Vegas then buttons to fly from there to LA then the same on to San Francisco. Just wondered if anyone had been recently and if they found a good option?

Play around with google flights. If you are time rich consider going via Dublin and stopping one night then fly off to the US the next morning.
Also consider flights to OAKland airport near San Fran.

If you can stretch Summer to the end of August to mid Sept then Edi or Man to Sfo are currently in the high £300s AA/BA. As suggested by Richard Google flights is the way to go.

For weather, September is generally considered the best month for SF as well.

OP, if you can give people a better idea of when you want to go, and for how long, they might be in a better position to help.

Hi sorry I would probably want to catch an NFL game so after a quick check we have the following (ideally take in both):

LA Rams at Oakland Raiders SUN 9 SEP
Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers SUN 16 SEP

So I would be looking to get to San Francisco or Oakland or LA at a push around this time of year at the best rate possible. I probably don't want to extend the journey longer than I need to by staying in Dublin etc but happy to look at options.

I would also take in some San Francisco Giants baseball I think they have games vs the Braves the week between 9-16. Any other sport on that time likely too. I think I miss basketball and ice hockey seasons.

    Cheers.

An example of flight prices to cover the sporting events you have listed.

    Depart Aberdeen

    https://www.google.com/flights/#search;f=ABZ;t=SFO;d=2018-09-05;r=2018-09-19

    Depart Inverness

    https://www.google.com/flights/#search;f=INV;t=SFO;d=2018-09-05;r=2018-09-19

    Edinburgh
    https://www.google.com/flights/#search;f=EDI;t=SFO;d=2018-09-05;r=2018-09-19

So I am not sure of the logistics for you to get to Inverness or Edinburgh but they are good prices for the example dates.

Regarding the baseball, we went to watch a game at the Giants around the sane date last year and it was an enjoyable experience. If you are not bothered about fancy seats check out Groupon, we got tix for $10 each the night before the game. A Sat afternoon game was even cheaper if I remember correctly.

Thanks yes it looks like I can at best expect about £350 with minimal delay including 1 change which sounds very reasonable to fly direct to the west coast of the USA! Thanks for your help I do like the Google Flights site.

Yes I went to a Giants game 2 years ago and got a premium seat right behind the pitcher for about £75. Really enjoyed it. Stub Hub etc over there seem very reliable and accepted way of getting tickets at a good rate unlike over here.
