Sky alternatives

Folks,
Just moved out into the sticks. Sky engineer said he was not allowed on the roof so no SKy!!! No big deal. It's all canceled, no headaches.
Just enquiring about alternatives as Freeview is so exciting. I would still prefer to have Sky, but not paying £150.00 for someone to go up the ladders. Sky would not offset the fee in case you were wondering.
Thanks for looking.

Does it have to go on the roof?0

Mine is on the side of the bungalow, about 10 feet up. But I understand what you say about Sky "engineers"
and roofs. When they fitted my dish, the guy would not even go into my loft, just wound the cables around skirting, doors and walls. I dropped them after 12 months and used the dish for Freesat with a Humax box. Freesat my not suit you, as you obviously don't care much for Freeview, but Netflix and others are available via Freesat Humax. You could try a NOWTV box.
I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Get an independent installer to fit the dish. Why does it need to be roof mounted? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

OP, if your BB is any good, Now TV is a much cheaper option - main down side is that it isn't HD but quality is fine if your BB is good. Same content (streamed only), no contract, lower price.0

Hardly a lot fewer channels to view.0 -
Amazon Firestick with some "add ons". 500HD channels on mine for $20 per month.

The huge savings make up for that imo.0 -
OP....Sky installed my box a few years ago. Have you tried asking the sky engineer to do a job with a little pocket money out of hours. I did this with my bedroom when they cabled it to my sky box. If I remember, it cost me £25.0
