UPS charged extra 24p

I had paid ups 36.77 to ship an item but on PayPal I see they helped themselves to an extra 24p. The total shows 37.01. I've asked a refund of the extra charge but they claimed the extra charge was due to the item being slight larger than it was.

Surely they can't do that?

They've charged you extra because your parcel/package was larger than you stated.Dwy galon, un dyhead,
Dwy dafod ond un iaith,
Dwy raff yn cydio’n ddolen,
Dau enaid ond un taith.0 -
I had rounded up the measurement. And the height was estimated as being more than what they said."Character is a journey, not a destination"--Bill Clinton

How much time are you going to waste on 24p?
How do they calculate the cost?0 -
Dunno. They didn't say in the invoice. I was just curious whether they can increase the cost after you've paid for it."Character is a journey, not a destination"--Bill Clinton

Yes - because you purchased delivery of a parcel measuring x, and in fact it was y.
If they couldn't charge any more, everyone would declare the parcel as being 1cm x 1cm x 1cm and weighing 1 gram.
Seems a bit harsh, though!0 -
Quibbling about 24p????I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I dont see what the argument is about. It was bigger than you said. What if it had been twice the size you specified,do you think they still shouldn!!!8217;t charge you extra0

How many pages of posts were generated on this board because someone took umbrage at being asked to confirm the contents of his parcel? 10 seconds of his time "wasted" by being asked a question followed by hours of time spent complaining about the fact that he was asked ..... I can't get my head round the fact that some people seem to have no sense of proportion. There are so many issues in the world today that could/ should make us incensed, but a couple of pence/ a few seconds spent repeating yourself certainly doesn't rise to that level. Just jaw-dropping.0
