I have had the message from AOL saying I must agree to OATH terms and I cannot access my emails now on the laptop. Have read that its best not to sign, they can look at your emails everything, have nothing to hide but think it s an invasion of privacy, my son says that AOL can look at your emails anytime this is just me signing to give permission and I don't want to. So at this time cannot see my emails or anything that I have stored. What can I do, can anyone tell me or do I just agree and allow it. HELP

Pointless being paranoid, all email providers have the ability to scan your emails to provide targeted advertising. (they don't actually read all of your emails, they have better things to do)
If I was you, I would transfer to Gmail who have stopped doing this. However you will still find similar T&C's to all the others.
I'm afraid if you want something for nothing then you are going to be disappointed, there is no such thing.
So, you may need to actually pay for your email service if you object that much.....Zoho, Fastmail, Hushmail, etc.
    Choice is yours.

Virus scans are fairly normal to prevent their systems getting infected also.

If you think AOL are going to read your emails due to the changes then they would have been reading them for a long time.

Dont forget that the person your sending and receiving emails with have probably agreed to the terms so your mails are being read anyway.

Only moved my mails away because i had a feeling that AOL would close the email side, very little of anything else left from the AOL days.

I agreed and the emails still work for now.

  • Yes, I have had the message from AOL. My AOL email account was easy to add to my Samsung email app as were my Yahoo & Gmail.
  • Thats some time lag you have there in LA. I thought it was 8 hours behind...

Turns out its almost 5 months behind the times..
