Panicking ? Moto G5 virus

I am feeling a bit panicky and would value help.
My Moto G5 'phone won't let me get beyond a 'window' when I try to browse - I only have a Chrome browser icon on my home page - no other browsers.
It says 'congratulations Motorola Moto G5 you have been randomly selected ...' It is ? mntpp.bider..com (sorry - I am too scared to go back to check.) There is a box to tick and I have not touched it.
It won't let me do anything at all, presumably unless I click on it.
I turned the phone off and when switched on, tapped my chrome browser again, the same window was there.
Am I clutching at straws if I can manage to get to Apps and remove/ delete the Chrome browser?
Can anyone please advise how I can sort this as I am panicking a bit?
Thank you.

can you clear browsing history in chrome settings?"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

Thanks so much for replying. No, I cannot get into Chrome history and cannot access settings. I can see the browser behind the 'window' and cannot get away from it.
Thank you

or clear cached in settings > app > chrome"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

don't panic. afaik it can't do any damage to your phone or data even if you clicked the box. someone may come along soon to confirm.
at worse it is just a simple factory reset. trust you have everything backed up?"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -

I have tried - no option on the list. I can tap disable or stop but no option to clear cached. Thank you.0 -

Thanks very much - I did not click on the box. Is it worth trying to uninstall Chrome?
I looked in Apps and cannot see any new Apps although I cannot see the dates any of the Apps were installed to be certain.0 -
you could also clear data to return chrome to when first installed"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

not sure you can uninstall chrome, only disable or force stop"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

personally if anything like that happens to me on pc or phone i always do a factory reset. its not always necessary but just puts my mind at ease and clears all the crap.
all my data/media is all backed up several times so its not a issue and doesn't take long"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0
