Surname appearing twice on flight booking

Options
I just booked a Norwegian Air flight via Opodo and noticed my surname is appearing twice in the booking. I contacted Opodo and they advised me I would need to cancel and re-book the flight. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how I should proceed? I have read online that this may not be an issue at the airport as they only check for an exact match of first name and surname so my extra surname in the booking may appear as a middle name? Or is there any way of getting this amended without having to cancel the flight/pay a massive fee as it's not a misspelling or a name change?
Thanks

Norwegian allow free cancellation within four hours of booking. You would have known that if you'd booked with them directly. What possessed you to book via Opodo?

The problem you have is that some airlines won't deal with you directly if you didn't book direct with them.

I'd try to contact Norwegian and see if they'll discuss your 3rd party booking error.

If they won't, you'll either have to go with Opodo's advice (pricey option) or risk it and hope it will be fine.

    Was this your error?
  • Hi

I booked through Opodo because I have before and was fine last time, I wont be doing that again though.
I rang Norwegian Air this morning and they advised that it shouldn't be a problem at the airport but to see if Opodo would just delete the duplicate name. Opodo will do this for a £25 fee (even though the airline isn't charging anything) so I'm just deciding whether to risk it of pay the fee.
I'm not sure whether it was my error or not, I triple checked everything & I've seen online that other people have had the same issue.

Thanks for the advice, I'll be booking direct with the airlines from now on.

Personally I would not be paying Opodo to correct their error... see if you can get an email from Norwegian confirming what they said on the telephone so that you can print it off and carry it with you.

Having said that: normally what matters is first name and last name, and no-one cares about additional names in the middle. So you could have your surname as a middle name and that ought not to make any difference.
