We were wondering what are average maintenance costs of running an average car?

We seem to be spending hundreds as a minimum every year, sometimes thousands just on servicing.

Is this normal?

What age of car, what's your yearly mileage and what size/type of car ( a big heavy 4x4 for instance has moving moving parts to wear out)

What driving style (hard, fast, or careful?), what type of driving (motorway or rural lanes?), what type of use (just the driver or a big load / towing), what type of garage used for repairs (cheap or expensive). . .
    The list is endless.
It costs what it costs, ;)

Where did you get your figures from? The expensive ones seem very cheap to me, a Boxster major service is around £1k from an OPC
