Can a bank legally say there was no PPI when there was?

Thanks all - I've asked the CMC to send copies of all documentation so we'll see what happens with that and I'll take it from there.0

I believe they have sent correspondence to my bank who have replied confirming there was PPI - that's how I understand it but I've asked for copies of the documentation so I should find out more soon...hopefully!0

Hi
We looked into potential PPI claims with our bank not long ago - we received redress on a loan & credit card but we were told there was no PPI on the Mortgage we took out to buy our first house. I was surprised but thought they must be correct and it's a lot of years ago so we don't have the paperwork.
It turns out there was PPI on the Mortgage.
Can the bank legally say there wasn't any if there was? Do we have any rights in regards to this?
Thanks in advance
With the amount of money the bank are paying out (and have set aside), and with the potential fines for getting it wrong, they are not going to knowingly and deliberately lie to save themselves a few grand on your account. All it would take is for one whistle blower to come forward and cause them a ton of grief.
So i think you can be assured that their records show that you don't / didn't have PPI.
Now its always possible theres a mistake or that two different departments have two different sets of records but thats a wholly different thing from lying.0
