Travel to Portugal on a Canadian passport

                    I arrived at Jet2 check in desk to travel to Portugal on holiday only to be told they could not let me travel. This was due to my Canadian passport expiring mid July 2018, but I required to have at least 3 months left on my passort from the date of my return to the UK. At the time of online check in when I entered my passport details, there was no indication or messages displayed to flag up this requirement. Can anyone advise if I have any recourse to any compensation from any source? I do have travel insurance but unable to contact them until tomorrow.

            It's up to you to ensure your documents are valid for travel.
 I'd be very surprised if you'll be covered by travel insurance, as it is your own error.0

 Are you sure that this is a requirement set by the Portugese government? If not then you would be in a strong position.0

            The airline will use the information from Timatic
 for a Canadian passport holder with a destination of Portugal it states:
 Passports and other documents accepted for entry must be valid for a minimum of 3 months beyond the period of intended stay0

 Unfortunately for the OP, it would appear the airline are correct. It will be a Portugese government reuquirement, although it is governed by Schengen agreements (all countries in the Schengen area have common entry/exit requirements).
