Disposing of 14 bags of old loft insulation

Options
As above, have cleared all the old insulation out of our loft and bagged it up in black bags, guessing the dustmen won’t take it all (they come every 2 weeks, and only empty the black wheely bin - always full already)

And we can only get 2 bags in the car so I don’t fancy 7 trips to the tip (it’s a good 20 minutes drive each way)

Any other (sensible) options?

Offer it on freecycle or similar? Presumably you removed it for a reason, what's wrong with it or are you having construction work done?

Nothings wrong with it (that I know) apart from it’s completely black with dust, I’m clearing the loft out laying new insulation once we’ve sorted the wiring in there then reboarding for storage

Ok. I think freecycle is your best bet then, perhaps also try offering it on social media, local Facebook pages for example. If it's in reasonably good shape (rolled and bagged) then someone might collect it.

Otherwise, put it back when the wiring is done and put fresh stuff on top. If you're boarding over it anyway it won't matter that it's black and insulation is dusty anyway, new or old.

Just lay it back when everything's finished. It's no less effective because it's grubby.

Or you have to hire a skip.

    Dig it into the garden.

Or if you suck the bags with a vacuum cleaner you may be able to pull the air out and compress it a lot.

Or can you borrow a roofrack and tie it all on top of the car.

Not really a good idea long term. It is likely to make a lot of noise and increase fuel consumption.

Might keep the car cool in summer and warm in winter?

What type of car do you have that can only fit 2 bin bags in it?!

one in passengers footwell, one on passengers seat, two in rear footwells, three across the back seats, two in the boot.... that's make it two trips, but remember this stuff by its very nature is compressible, so they'd all stuff in and go in one trip!

I don't see the problem unless you drive a Lamborghini!!!!
