laptop not waking up/black screen

I've a similar issue with a Dell laptop running Windows 10, was working fine then all of a sudden I can't get it to resume after putting it to sleep via closing the lid, always requires a hard reboot to get it back again. I still haven't discovered a solution that works. The only workaround I use now is to set it to hibernate instead, although this requires pressing the power button when you open the lid.
I tried that and it still doesn't work properly. Its very random, sometimes fine sometimes not.
It seems to be an issue with display/graphic drivers. This seems to be the common theme but reading all the threads on Microsoft website and Toshiba forums, there doesn't actually seem to be solution.0 -
I would not disable anything. I too have a laptop with intel graphics and radeon graphics, mostly it uses the intel graphics mode.
I would go to a Toshiba forum (there usually is one?) and post questions there since no one here came up with anything.
You have checked the bios versions? You have hooked it to an external monitor to see if the same happens?
I hooked it up to my TV today via HDMI when the laptop screen was blank and yes, it works fine, except no display on laptop.0 -
the #alphanumeric link on the bottom may or may not work https://www.tenforums.com/installation-upgrade/21319-toshiba-bios.html
think you short changed us on the model number, this site want more details http://www.toshiba.eu/support/drivers/laptops/
I would also suggest you try Toshiba usa and asia too
There also seem to be two bioses - one for video an one for bios???0 -
Hi, I'm posting this in case it helps someone with a similar problem. If you have ruled out its not a screen fault, cable fault, incorrect settings, out dated drivers etc then another reason could be the lid switch. My laptop display now turns on by using the work around method listed at the end of the below--
"Magnetic On/Off Switch to detect of Close/Open Lid
- Your magnet switch is fubar some how. Open up the speaker cover and see if your lid actuator switch that come in contact with the magnet on your lid cover is stuck or not (find where the magnet is in the back of the front lid cover, trace where the magnet area actually touches the base of the computer and you will find the switch)
- Workaround, start windows with lid at 30 degree angle or less"0
