laptop not waking up/black screen

Hi

I have a Toshiba satellite p50-C that's just over a year old that has developed some annoying faults.

Mainly when i open the lid it sometimes stays on a black screen but the lights come one (caps locks, num lock and hard drive and batt) that indicate the laptop is on but the screen is still blank, you can hear start up noises in the back ground also. This is intermittent, usually its fine but every now and again the screen doesn't wake up?

I have it set to sleep when laptop lid is closed, i have tried it in hibernate mode as well but issue still exists.

i have to hold down the power key to get it to re start.

Another issue is the camera works intermittently as well, some times it works, other times it says camera not found. its an integrated camera.

Windows 10- Any ideas on what to do to fix?

Thanks

I have seen the black screen on resume on Dell, HP and Lenovo machines with both Windows 7 and 10. If there is a fix, I've not found it.

It may be the screen saver , or the power settings allow the pc to turn off the screen. I will have a dig around (currently running linux so bear with me a while need to fire up a windows m/c)

Go to settings and search for screen saver
Is there a screensaver or None and is the tick box for on resume show login screen ticked?
First answer those questions on here
On the screen saver panel click on Change Power Settings
does it say Turn Off the screen for X minutes on Battery and Y for Plugged in
Then we may able to help

    Hi

screen saver = none, on resume show login not ticked.

turn of screen never for both batt and plugged in.

when i close the lid= hibernate (seeing how well it performs as it used to be on sleep)

    Thanks

i would go to the video card/chip manufacturers site and download their drivers, rather than the MS ones or the pc manufacturers ones providing that the download is the newer version..

    Hi

The issue is still there and very annoying. The drivers for both intel 520 and Nvidia 930 are showing as the latest version.

I was wondering if switching of one of the graphics card/disabling in device manager would help? if so which one should I disable and will it cause any problems?

I've tried everything and read many threads looking for a solution but noting seems to be working.

holding the power key down keeps taking longer and longer to work and im afraid I may damage something. Also its an integrated battery so cant remove it.

Should disable one of the graphics card?

    Thanks

I would not disable anything. I too have a laptop with intel graphics and radeon graphics, mostly it uses the intel graphics mode.

I would go to a Toshiba forum (there usually is one?) and post questions there since no one here came up with anything.

You have checked the bios versions? You have hooked it to an external monitor to see if the same happens?

Have you contacted the Toshiba Technical team? What was their advice?

I've a similar issue with a Dell laptop running Windows 10, was working fine then all of a sudden I can't get it to resume after putting it to sleep via closing the lid, always requires a hard reboot to get it back again. I still haven't discovered a solution that works. The only workaround I use now is to set it to hibernate instead, although this requires pressing the power button when you open the lid.

I've been on their website looking for support. Its often hard to get support and you end up going round in circles. They seem more interested in business customers.

I've been on their forums now. The majority of threads with these issues have actually gone unanswered.

I know what the end result will be- Take it to a service station

    or

Its a fault with windows 10.

Anyways, I may end up calling their central customer services no to see what they say..
