    I'm surprised that anyone would think that hitting a bollard is the fault of the people that fitted the bollard...

    The op's posts read more and more like a great case for driving without due care and attention, which is what the police would be thinking of if they were involved and this line of arguing was used (it's certainly not driving to the standard expected of a competent driver).
