I can't remember if it was Dolly or Raphael with concerns about stress fractures from running. ... the moral of it is, when did you last replace your running shoes? :)
It was me :D It's not a sharp pain, and it does seem to be slowly fading. It aches more when I first wake up and if I'm stretching. My work 'sandals' have a strap that goes straight across the front of my ankle and I have to loosen the buckle by one as it cuts in a little.
I think I bought my shoes about 2 years ago, although I've only properly got back into running this new year. I have two pairs and alternate them each run, so they've probably only had about 6 monthish wear each.
I find that as I have two different styles of shoe they run in different places, so it gives my blisters and tender skin a chance to heal too.

Didn't check in yesterday, was invited round to a friends bbq, so we enjoyed the last bit of sun and a few beers.

Money: know your income and outgoings. Still haven't spent, had my payslip so I know what my extra is from all those long work days last week.

Me time: Look after yourself. Revive an old hobby. Exam practice. I have practiced today!!! :T For some reason knuckling down to practice has been really difficult. Only 8 weeks to go so I should be panicking and spending ages on it!

Move: Run today. Took the pup out for his strolls too.

Activation: What spurs you on to keep on the path? Still more podcasts, sometimes I wish I lived further than across the road from work so I can get more podcast time in :rotfl:

Arm yourself : Whether you opt to work more or to spend less in order to achieve your goal, stand firm against the naysayers. Extra £34.00 in wages this week :D I shall be popping that straight into mums pot when I'm paid on friday.
Planned spends this month - £20 tattoo deposit.

You. Appreciate what you have. Be grateful. Today I am grateful that somehow we seemed to be ahead in out work today. First day in weeks we actually enjoyed our work and wern't stressed by our workload!

Hello!

Still on NSD3 - I bought 4 vegan ice creams on the way to get the kids from school.
It was hot and they were happy (£2 spend). Could have been much worse.

Put up a very tricky shelf, and am 3/4 of the way through the last one in that section. I can see it is going to free up a load of space and clear a corner that was becoming cluttered. Yay!

Need to buy a few more shelf boards and some more paint -
Got a payout of £25 from a cashback site!!
It will more than pay for my diy bits and bobs.
Still feels a bit like mugging Peter to repay Paul.

Glad it is - a short week this week. DS3 gone off on sc hool journey happily. Annoyingly the kids ate very little at suppertime, but was all salady stuff so it will reappear as lunchbox fodder tomorrow, or in a ' best supporting role' for supper tomorrow.

It is supposed to be getting cooler. I hate this heat. I also dislike waking up as soon as it is light. But if you like such things please enjoy it while you can.
Winter is coming
Thank Fred!

A NSD for me. Woken by the alarm (max 5 hours sleep) and started phoning the district nurses (remembered that that is what you have to do, if you wait until 9am they've all gone out on their rounds). Eventually got through but they only took clinic bookings on that line. So same again with second line, they kept telling me where I was in the queue). Request was put in the book for one of them to pick up when they returned to the office. Phoned mum to let her know.

Had more sleep (walking uncoordinated and knees weak). Had a bath. Dressed, phoned for taxi, gathered 5 bags of shopping for mum + bits of paperwork to sort. Mum once more has enough food to withstand a seige. However she was disappointed as she went to get an ice cream and there were none - the one I had was from home, grabbed it from the freezer when I was packing her stuff.

She had started one of the jigsaws I bought for her. She was bothered by lack of progress (only has sight in one eye and finds it difficult to pick up the pieces) but she had done much better than expected. I have spent several weeks trawling charity shops to find one with distinctive colours, she wouldn't stand a chance with a lot of sky and trees. Told her about the ones I saw yesterday. Oxfam had a 99p sale and had lots of jigsaws including several cartoon type ones (bit seaside postcard but not rude) which had bright colours and blocks of colour.

So new list including going back to see if the jigsaws are still available (at a reasonable price) two sorts of ice creeam cornets and looking for a suitable first communion gift (not buying as I suggested she checked what other gifts are first).

Did a bit of work in the garden before it rained, put the bins out, did paperwork, let the nurse in - wound seems to be healed over so she left it without a dressing, did the difficult bits of the jigsaw (black, navy blue and all the birds legs which were drawn in wih dotted lines), made food.

Hoping for an early night but want to do something creative (using up more bits and leftovers - cut some owl shapes last night).

Today I am grateful for lovely weather, mum being on the mend, relaxing with a jigsaw, the nurse coming out and leftover pizza (found 4 pieces whilst putting the pizza box pile together to top up the bin - only eaten the bits off the top).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

Grocery shop today included baking supplies - DD has exams coming up and enjoys cooking as a distraction so homemade brownies for pudding.

Grateful for children who bake, sitting out in garden whilst dinner was cooking and reaching the bottom of the laundry basket.

Hi all :j

Motivation: what is your personal motivation for joining in with the turtles? My motivation is to cut down on the unnecessary spending and pay for some renovations to this property. In order to do this I think we need to be saving money by doing any jobs we can realistically (!) do ourselves. Very little progress today with 'our' stuff as I find the stint in the CS very draining....as usual overwhelmed by donations after a BH. Have some stuff of mine to take but will wait until a more opportune moment. Did the second grocery shop of the month today (£31.64) which included quite a few bbq items which in the end we didn't use as it started to rain...still we had a version indoors which was nice & I made a small rhubarb & ginger crumble for afterwards.

Money:
know your income and outgoings. All DD bills should have gone out by now and I am going to add up our income, that won't take very long.. so far have done now two grocery shops, . Grocery bill so far £57.07.

Me time: look after yourself. Get enough sleep; eat well; move; do things you enjoy. Good nights sleep, eating fairly good, moving in CS for 4 hours, brief play in garden with canines & indoor with feline.

Move: being active benefits your body and your mind. You know that. Now do it. Moving in CS, not so much steps as constant moving around sorting etc.

Activation: what spurs you on to keep on the path? Have not done much decluttering but have identified some items to sell to a fellow collector. Just need to find out how to price, which will be tricky as rare items & not available so need to research somehow. Just got a few bits of cane furniture moved from outside into large shed, was determined they would not go back in lodge again. Wiped all windows down but they still need a good clean & some paint needed also. Lots of painting needed outside, but will get done.

Arm yourself : you have chosen to follow a path that many mock and despise - that of ridding yourself of debt and financial constrictions in order to be free; free to choose what to do with your money and time, not enslaved to repaying or to other people. Glad we are not bothered about 'keeping up with the Joneses' - have done that a long time ago but really do not care any more. It's how some people validate themselves & that's fine, but not for me. We are now free from paid work commitments but spent many years getting there, wish it had been sooner. Desperate need of decluttering & getting rid of old lifestyle. Will attempt this but have friends coming tomorrow & Thursday, plus hair appointment Friday so not looking good. However, will persevere, it must be done this year.

You. Are you happy in yourself? Know what brings you joy, what cheers your heart, what makes you pause and wonder. Don't just stop and smell the coffee in the morning; practise stopping and looking around throughout the day. Appreciate what you have. Be grateful. GratitudesFor a laugh at work, for another dry day, for finally getting through the washing (now the ironing mountain awaits), for frisky canines & super cute kitty, for tasty meal with no leftovers.

NSD still 4/19 so far

Check ins: 8/31

Not done charity donation yet but will arrange asap. Need to do through euro account. Will give to CS tomorrow - 4 hours of my time, plus no doubt a sum of cash (£12)

Thanks for the info re photos dolly84 will investigate that & see how I get on.

Foxholes I am with you on the heat thing.....dry is fine, but hot is a no no for me..

SFD number 3 yesterday :)

No dog walking as too hot and then it rained. Lots of work completed. I was grateful to have plenty of food, a reliable car, my safe home and the company of my dogs.

NSD 5/19 yesterday.

The detox involves cutting down on caffeine, gluten, dairy, night shades, sugar, soda and eggs for a week. Cutting them out completely for two weeks and then testing to see if any is a problem after that so really it is detox light. I already know that gluten is a no no for me but managed to get myself glutened yesterday by being careless.

Caffeine wise, I did have a stonking headache yesterday which may have been the caffeine or it may have been the special class being extra special. I tend to stay away from decaffinated as a result of having a chemistry degree - a case of a little knowledge which is probably nothing to worry about. If you are having very strong withdrawal symptoms though decaffinated does seem a sensible route to go.

Here's hoping the special class isn't too special today!

The pizza fairy loves you, mothernerd. :T

I spent over an hour in the kitchen last night making supper, only to find nobody had much appetite because of the warm weather. :(:(

I am my own pizza fairy.
Might play with some dough while the weather is good for rising.
It will go with all the leftover salads

Sorry puddleglum, I can't quote on my phone but I buy the water-decaffeinated teas and coffees as a general rule. With your chemistry hat on; are they better than the others? I don't know what they do to normal decaf but if a product can't say it's "gently decaffeinated using only water" I'm guessing it uses something else?!

Planning to spend £1 on hospital parking from personal budget today. Umming and ahhing about getting a small basket of shopping whilst out so I don't have to go at the weekend (and would give me another nsd to bank!)
