If the name and the partial postcode are correct, thus showing that these are genuinely from Santander, then someone may have set an account up using your husband's details for nefarious purposes. Check your credit reports to see if anything from Santander appears on there.

It is good advice in general to regularly check all three credit reference agencies just in case any identity theft has been attempted. This can be done free of charge with MSE for Experian, Clearscore for Equifax and Noddle for Callcredit.

I have just checked my email record and I always received emails from Santander when I applied and opened any new accounts. I assume that the mkoakley's husband did not receive any of these so the email address at this point was not his. I would also assume that the partial postcode is not mkoakley's.

If it was me receiving emails I would continue to follow through with the bank until it was sorted.

Go to Resolver and complain. Will take you about 5 minutes including signing up.

However nothing you received is confidential, and there won't be any links to any statements or other information about this person, so it's just a clock up, not a breach of security.
