Do you want to build your own or buy a whole PC? Do you have anything you could use on new PC? Monitor? Keyboard and mouse etc (you'll tend to get more bang for buck and future upgrade options and experience etc. building your own but sometimes there are offers on whole rigs that can better a build)
  • im getting rid of old computer. just want a new one i can buy online.
  • thanks banger, nice pc and abit to expensive, plus graphics card is poor for the value. any more help would be grateful.

If you already have the peripherals (monitor keyboard etc) how about this from overclockers:

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-042-OK&groupid=43&catid=963&subcat=

There are a few other systems you can look it to reduce the price if you do need to buy peripherals as well. Have bought all my PC components, and a low end pre-built PC for parents from overclockers with no problems. Plus unlike a lot of other system builders they tend to build a general level build vs price-rather than try and sell one with one great component and the rest a load of rubbish!

And as to an above post-I would never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever recommend a system from PC World. Overpriced garbage!
Out of my mind. Back in 5 minutes.
  • ugh pc world sucks!

dont touch em. heard either really great things about overclockers, and some really bad things. my mate got double charged by them, and if you google there are lots of similar stories :S... but also cheap prices and lots of good stories too :S so i guess its best to google reviews (from anywhere you buy from online) so you know what your lettin yourself in for

I bought my PC from MESH a while back and although great value and performance, it was a Hellish experience, took 3 months to finally get it delivered, after about 10 failed delivery attempts, each time telling me it was my fault (it wasnt in any way) or that i had imagined arranging a certain date. This even happened one particular time after id called up 3 times ON THE ARRANGED DAY confirming each time it HAD been shipped out that morning (given times of dispatch) and WAS on its way (given delivery estimates 2-3 hours away), then at the end of the day told it had never been shipped out, or even scheduled for delivery, and in fact I HAD arranged delivery for friday that week (the ONE DAY ID TOLD THEM I COULD NEVER ACCEPT IT, OVER N OVER). then rude staff would hang up. someties the waiting queue on customer service was an hour or more. jsut to be told lies. lol and had plenty of messages on answering machine saying 'oh theengineers have JUST DISCOVERED a parts shortage with part XXXX, sorry). had that SAME EXCUSE on my answer phone each week for about 3 weeks lol, same part each time, even after earlier confirming they had all the parts, built it , n were testing it lol. so yeah.. avoid MESH like the plague

hmm if you check out the latest issue PCGamer magazine (£5.99) they build a pc capable of playin all new DX10 vista games with great graphics for just £600!!!

Go and look at https://www.komplett.co.uk. Pick their Intel gamer and change the graphics card to an 8800GTS and change the CPU to a C2D. That should do the trick and iyou should have enough left over for a reasonable monitor.

My only other advice would be to buy a cheapish C2D and a good fan and then overclock it.

My E4300 is currently running overclocked by 60% and it's still nice and cool.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

    Hi,
Ive found a good pc just under your £600 budget, as others have said before i wouldn't touch PC World with a Barge pole...I would have no hesitation in recommending Novatech for excellent customer serviceicon7.gif and competative prices....i my opinion, it's at least worth a look before you commit yourself to spending your hard earned.
