Why assume the worst? Most people are decent, will realise a mistake has been made and will be expecting a visit from a neighbour to collect their parcel.

I'd have done that before contacting JL, or posting on here.

    Your post is well-intentioned.

I suspect you'd feel slightly different if it was your £200 item that had been "correctly" delivered to an address a hundred meters up the road.

I have been round and there was no answer as it happens.

Let JL know you've not been able to retrieve it yet. Try again over the weekend, then leave it to JL to sort. It's their issue.

This happened t me with a tablet delivered from o2.

As soon as I saw the tracking had delivered to the wrong door number I went to retrieve it, they weren't in, so I put a note through the door stating I knew they had the parcel from the tracking and could they bring it round, next day they knocked at the door. No drama.

Thanks. Probably very little recourse (not after compensation) if I actually get the parcel.

My worry is I dont know this neighbour, and presumably they have a parcel with their address on it. From their point of view a random item has turned up with their address on it. Its quite a pricy item too. Its not guaranteed that I will get it (they might return it somewhere, who knows where).

If you are not after compensation why make such a fuss? If the neighbour trots along later with the parcel job done. Could just be a matter of the wrong digit being input on the DPD order by JL.

But it will have your name on it.

I can't speak for everyone but if I wasn't expecting a parcel but one was delivered with my address on it but with someone else's name on it, I'd probably refuse to accept it.
Even if I did accept it, I wouldn't open it. I'd be expecting the person who ordered the item to be knocking on my door pretty soon asking if I'd got their parcel.

Finally managed to pick it up.

Still not impressed it was addressed to the wrong house, but such is life.

Apparently it was a close call as they are leaving for holiday for 2 weeks today!

Have you notified JL that the delivery was wrongly addressed so they can investigate what happened and prevent it happening again?

Yes, as soon as I learnt about it.

JL called last night and the address problem is definitely with the third party suppliers as JL have my correct address. DPD confirmed they were given the wrong house. Suppliers dont open until Monday so they are going to get a phone call from JL on Monday to find out what happened.

Mistakes happen, we had a delivery through the letterbox that was for neighbour at a time we were away for a few days. Sorted when we returned without any drama.
