    the cheapest solution would be to move to a supplier with no standing charge and keep your current cooker

    With no standing charge, from what I've read, cost of usage is higher but I will look at whether it will be cheaper doing it that way, thanks :)

    For the cost of removal of an old gas cooker, capping the supply pipe to the cooker, purchase of a new electric cooker and delivery & installation, you can buy an awful lot of gas even at slightly higher gas unit costs due to no standing charges.

    It is more expensive yes.

    However if you use your gas cooker rarely it would still be cheaper that buying a new cooker and bonus backup if you have an electrical problem.
