Tried to make a purchase tonight and card was declined. No reason why that should be so I rang the provider and they said they can’t discuss, it’s a delicate matter (?) and I need to fax photographic id to them. Offered to email but they said no, has to be fax- does that sound right to you? Who has access to a fax nowadays?? I’ve tried ringing another number but they want card details entered and I’m not that keen to do it to Ben honest. Any thoughts please folks?

Use a printer fax option or an app from your phone.

It doesn't have to be an old screechy large fax machine.

Start by telling us who the card is with?
Then exactly what you were trying to purchase?

You are right nobody asks you to fax anything anymore - don't think we have the whole story yet.

Is it a new card - how long have you had the card?

No, almost a year and I can account for everything on it to date, just seems a bit odd to me, as I said I offered to email but they said no, had to be fax. I’m assuming it’s to do with maybe being more fraudproof that way, I don’t really know

If you Google 'How to send a fax by email' there seem to be several methods.

Not something I have tried. But it looks reasonably straightforward

Sign up for the 30 day trial at eFax and send the fax from your smartphone or computer.

Don't forget to cancel the trial if you decide to use the service.

Have you tried your local public library? The one we have does offer fax service for a very modest fee.

Most likely just a periodic security check, they run them from time to time, every so many transactions or whatever.

If you've called a number you know is a legit number for Sainsbury why would you not be happy giving them your CC number to establish your id?
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.
