lots, conkers are free, and amuse children for hours, and cheaper than taking them to cinema, or whatever to amuse them. and its good for the kids to be out in the fresh air too. mulitple benefits.0 -
ooh yes your quite right
last night a friend of mine was saying it was her sons birthday on sunday and she got him lots of stuff plus expensive things off the rest of the family party costing a bomb and a clown
the kids all vanished into the garden and spent the bulk of the day playing conkers with the dads drilliing them and putting the string through. (NO not the kids the conkers!) dads ended up playing the kids kids won and dads sulked lol
stopped them all drinking so much and everyone had a laugh
she said next year shes just going to put a big bowl of conkers on the table and leave them too it0 -
I would just like to say that took my 6yr old daughter to a funfair at a local race course and decided to persuade her to go into the park and round the lake whilst walking we came across some fallen conkers so spent a good hr collecting and opening them she was enjoying her self so much she totally forgot about the fun fair ...which saved me so much money we had a fab day ...so decided weather permittingcwe going in search of woods tomorrow with a picnic and the dog costing very little money saving day for me : ) x0

Spiders don't like conkers.....just thought I'd throw that in there....Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0

We put a bowl of conkers in our Mud Pie kitchen in the garden as an extra 'ingredient', along with old pots and pans, big spoons, potato mashers etc. Keeps the kids amused for ages.0

I put a bowl of them in cloakroom to deter the spiders (keep my wellies in there).LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0

Conkers soon dry out and go wrinkly and boring.... but lob them into corners where spiders like to try to live and it should deter them.0

Probably not the most child-safe of activities but I remember making 'fairy furniture' out of conkers when I was little. We'd stick four pins or cocktail sticks in the bottom of one for a table, and then turn other ones into chairs by sticking four pins in the bottom and then three in a line on the top. We'd weave old embroidery thread or knitting wool across the top pins so you got a 'back' to the chair. It used to keep us busy for hours0
