Sounds good. So tell them you will grant a wayleave for it in the new position that YOU want it.

Though I'm wondering about the bit that goes "Please note that this is a chargeable service".

To me - I read that as "Whoops - we tried it on to do so without agreement of owner of your house and we've just been caught out for it. But - if we agree to move what-we-shouldnt-have-had-there in the first place - we'll charge you for putting right our mistake"

I've just read my wayleave agreement (Overhead cables) It appears to say that the agreement lasts 15 yrs, or as long as I own the land if shorter.

I am going to ring them now and do the other means of communication they suggested as well - lets see how the phone call goes first.

Wayleaves for poles are a one-off payment and last indefinitely. They run with the land, not the owner.

My opinion is that you will struggle to have the pole moved for free if you are standing to gain from doing so: i.e. developing the land.

My pole was moved because someone, obviously an Openreach employee, moved the pole illegally to a place where it was never intended to be. That's different from Openreach installing it in the place their surveyor chose and attaching the usual notice asking the landowner to get in touch.
