iPhone 6 battery replacement

Hi, new to using the forum.

This week I sent my iPhone 6 off to apple to have the battery replaced through this reduced £25 deal. I stopped using the phone near the end of last year as the battery would not hold a charge and wouldn't accurately tell how much power was left.

Anyway to cut long story short, Apple have contacted me to say the phone won't charge (eh that's why want the battery replaced) and looking to charge over £250 to repair - no difference. I've scheduled their rep to call me tomorrow as wanted to check if anyone else has had similar issues and if resolved?

Any advice?

Sorry sounds like you had a faulty phone and mistaken it (knowingly or not) for a worn battery.

Unless you’re an expert in phone faults and repairs I’m afraid you will have to wait or ask for Apple to give a detail report on what exactly needs repaired. If you don’t agree then you will have to get the phone back and send it to a 3rd party to verify what the fault is and then decide if you can enact the consumer law act 2015.

On the contrary, the symptoms described by the OP are consistent with a worn battery.

Currently based on the information given by the OP Apple don’t seem to think so. If you look at everything I said they will have to wait to see what Apple is saying exactly needs repaired. Once you get that information then that will decide the next course of action.

If it was just a worn battery it would not cost over £250 damage to a phone or to replace just a worn battery. Now a faulty battery maybe but then I am not in a position to know as I have not seen the report from Apple so it could be other issues.

Given that the phone was sent in specifically for a new battery under the £25 offer, might it be that the Apple technicians replaced the battery as requested and then discovered that the phone wouldn't charge?
