Blackberry stopping services

Has anyone come across this problem? I have an old Blackberry Curve 8520 which I have been using on a PAYG top up with EE for many years.
On 12th April the services were stopped without warning and it was only when I rang EE that they told me no more PAYG services available from 10th April.
I've now been told by both Vodafone and O2 that they will provide services instead but can't guarantee how long they will go on for. Vodafone says it may not be very long. O2 say it will be 12 months. Blackberry so far proving fairly impossible to get any customer service support from.
How do I find out how long I can use the phone for if Blackberry aren't telling anyone what they are doing?
