Hi all, i'm looking to replace our fast declining TV.
i'm hoping to stay under £400 and had settled on either of these
https://toshiba-tv.com/uk-uk/49u6763db
https://toshiba-tv.com/uk-uk/49u7763db
i went into John Lewis this morning to buy the first but they'd popped the price up by £50.
the second one is slightly cheaper, looking at the spec the only obvious difference is Total Picture quality, the first is 1000, second is 1400? i might be being daft but the cheaper, second looks to be a better buy?
Anyone with knowledge care to advise?
many thanks
J

Never heard of Total Picture quality, sounds like marketing speak.
Do you have a 4K source?
Are you are of this:
“Toshiba” is a registered trademark of Toshiba Corporation and its used by Vestel or its subsidiary for products described here in under license from Toshiba Visual Solutions Corporation. Vestel is the manufacturer or is the entity responsible as manufacturer for the products described here in.
Vestel STB's are generally OK. Not a of fan of their TV's, having seen Philips and Panasonic versions. Other well know brands lower ranges may also be sourced from Vestel or from at least two other OEM manufacturers.0 -
ta,
i potentially have access to 4k output, it hasn't been worth accessing thus far.
Not sure i understand the Vestel bit?0 -

It's not an actual Toshiba but a set manufactured and badged by Vestel.

Ah! thanks for that, i'll do a bit of digging.0

Total Picture Quality sounds like their 4K version of Resolution+, the upscaling method they used on their Regza 1080p TVs. (I've had a 32" Regza for several years and it's still going strong. Resolution+ does seem to upscale lower res sources quite well).0

Always loved toshiba tv . That vestel manufacturing has raised concern for when I get my new tv whenever that is . I have a 32" tv/ dvd combo . I think it's the regza from approx 2012 like DoaM still going strong . Hope this helps .0

Ensure u go to Richersounds, for there free 5 year Warranty.
Sadly Toshibia Sharp and Hitachi, no longer make TVs,look at Sony Samsung LG and the new Chinese company called Hitence, good reports about them.0 -

Thanks for the replies, i'm rethinking Toshiba's now, partly the Vestel thing but also because a bit of further research found some better spec TV's around the budget.
i'd also fancied the Toshiba because of their relatively narrow base which would mean we didn't have to change the Unit if sits on, but it turns out its relatively easy and inexpensive to change the base as well.0
