Good morning all
Holly thank you for starting us off.
Didn't get to sleep until about 2.30 this morning but had a lovely dream. I don't usually remember dreams but this was so real. We were at a NT property, sitting on a blanket having a picnic. Then our dgs came running across the grass and gave us a big hug. We talked and laughed and took frog spawn from the pond. Last bit I remember is he ate the icing from my piece of cake. Hope I can dream the same dream tonight.
Hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Holly, I may be evil but I hope that consultant gets the book thrown at him. How he can say that you are bad enough to be sectioned and then 3 weeks later discharge you beggars belief. To me you seem to be such a strong person, to go through all you have and still be fighting is remarkable, don't let the b*****d grind you down.
Gers and Lainey, I gave my grandmother's engagement ring to DS to propose with, they both love it. DD wears her grandma's wedding and engagement rings all the time. She also has a locket that her grandfather gave to her grandma on their wedding day, she wore it on her own wedding day.
I ended yesterday exhausted and in quite a bit of pain after the Harry Potter studio thing. We really enjoyed it, there is so much about the various effects departments, make-up, special effects, design etc. Such a lot of detail was put in the films that viewers wouldn't be able to see. We didn't do things like the broom ride (not that we weren't tempted but I think I would have fallen off) but it was very well done. We went at 4pm and that turned out to be a good time to go because there were very few people there and we were able to see everything very easily. We left just before it closed at 8pm.
Today will be a quiet day!0 -

I gave my DS2 his grandma's engagement ring to propose with, it really suits DDiL's finger with their wedding band. I wear mum's wedding ring next to my own, and wore her gold locket on my wedding day to DH as she wasn't with us by then. I also have my grandmother's wedding band and opal ring in safekeeping for the eldest great-granddaughter who is currently 9yo, and the silver bangle given to my godmother/aunt as bridesmaid gift from my parents when they married.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Morning all
Hugs and spoons to those in need.
Well after my mini rant yesterday the recycling team managed to get it all in the lorry and not on the floor as usual.. perhaps they read this thread lol. Pity the dirty beggars who drop all the rubbish up our lane don't get the message. Carling must be on offer somewhere locally as its the main one, although like you all no doubt, we get all sorts. The most obscure was a pregnancy testing kit some months ago. It had been run over by a vehicle so I never did find out if there was another little person joining the muck throwing brigade.
Mares out and munching. Rileycat asleep on the haybale.
Holly, if I can stick in my 2pennorth.. Its good the GP is batting for you. They should IMO but they don't all do what they should. Good on him/her for sticking head above parapet.
Bye for now

Well the chap from the council came, the floor has to come up and the floor boards in the cupboard ripped up and replaced, I emptied the cupboard in the hall, thankfully the water had not reached that far, so the cupboard got a good clean out, just need the cleaners to put the steam mop on the lino and I can put the stuff back. There is a set of plastic drawers in there which need sorted out. I appear to have 6 trailing sockets for some obscure reason, I also found the kit that goes with the hand steamer I sent to the charity shop, will drop the stuff in next week when we go to get out eyes tested.
The jam pan has gone into the shed and the stock pot is now in the cupboard under the sink where the pressure cooker used to live. The white plastic drawer unit washed down, and spiders evicted. I do not think the cupboard has been touched since we moved in so it was long overdue a clear out.
Its turned quite cool and we had a few drops of rain. Feet up until the cleaners have been and then I will put the stuff back in the cupboard.0 -
Afternoon all,
Waiting for DD4 to collect me to go for a drive with her 3, she is then dropping me to have my hair cut.....as my late mother would have said its not for pride.....very fuzzy even when freshly washed.
Lashing rain here at present, was going to hang out washing earlier, luckily I didnt get round to it.
DSIL is on dinner duty tonight, we are having beef stew.
Envy you lucky ladies who have rings etc owned by grandmothers and great grandmothers.......I have only things from my mother, which will somehow be divided between my 4 daughters and 7 granddaughters.....should really get on to it.
Judi......surely your DD can afford some paid childcare? Am I getting it wrong that they go on 4 holidays a year.....wouldn't be having it, but then I am 73 this year so maybe that's the angle I am using?
Going to a relatives funeral tomorrow morning.....with my brother, so there will be no hanging around chatting afterwards, but I do have an appointment at 2pm, so really can't afford to delay anyway.
DD has arrived so will love you and leave you......back later

I too would have loved to have anything from my grandmother or mother but sadly not to be.
Once my mother asked me if there was anything of hers I would like, firstly I said no, but when pushed I did say her engagement ring. DH and I had no money when we first got together so an engagement ring was out of the question only a wedding ring. A few weeks later I noticed she wasn't wearing the ring and asked where it was. Firstly she said it had been stolen, so I said I'd phone the police and report it, she then said she had lost it. Some time later her wedding ring went 'missing'.
Like TA and others I could write a book about the things she has done and the hurt.If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Bonjour tout le monde:)
The sun is beating down :T but the heat is tempered by a cooler breeze. Just having a cuppa, listening to the birds& bees & enjoying the gorgeous smell of wisteria.
DH & DSis have already done a tiprun with a carload of stuff + DH has filled the bike with bag of glass & 3 small bags of clothes & taken to the recycling banks :T
DH will be entering into negotiations with the new owners to be re the gite furniture (in pidgin French) :rotfl:whilst DSis & I are at the doctors tomorrow - her for her heart tablets & me for antibiotics for swollen face (long story which is boring :rotfl:)
Holly, so sorry that the consultant cannot handle complexity but sooo happy that you have a GP who is fighting your corner :T Ditto other posters ‘don’t let the b*****ds grind you down’
snoozer, Gers & Lainey - I love that jewellery is being handed down. When DM passed away ten years ago my younger DSis gave me DM’s pearls & her Italian gold earrings (pierced). I still wear my first ever pair of Italian gold earrings practically every day & night for 53 years :rotfl: Probably all told over the years maybe 6 months of odd evenings/days wearing costume jewellery or silver jewellery
My DSis wants to inherit my earrings :rotfl: but overweight as I am & only 6 years older I think I will outlive her as I have (touch wood :rotfl:) never had any major illnesses & she poor dear has had a minor heart attack before age 50 & two hernia ops  I think of all my possessions, my earrings are my most precious item & evoke memories of which I only have a few photos.
Anyway onwards & upwards

This is very similar to the one I have:ancientofdays wrote: »LW I'm trying to envisage this gadget, not terribly successfully.

Mine isn't battery operated, it plugs into the mains, and turns the pedals itself, which is great if you are too weak to actually pedal, it does the movement for you.
Holly I am sending you some Wolfy strength vibes so that you can fight your corner; imho you have been unfortunate enough to have a less-than-competent consultant, and you deserve better.
Chaos reigns here; the ptb's have decreed that every bloomin' street in the city is to be uprooted to put in some fancy fibre broadband or other -V0dafone I think it is - and they are digging up our front garden because that's where the "service strip" is.:mad::mad::mad::mad:
We have NO option on this; there is noise, dirt, no access for visitors/clients (I had to make the workmen move their carp so that we could get out to visit the shops for groceries earlier today) and I am having to keep the bedroom and spare room curtains drawn all day, as they are way too close to the bungalow for my comfort, and I rather like my privacy. Excuse me ....... AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH.
That's better.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon all. Back from an industrious day at the caravan. Lots of toys, bikes, prams, games, books etc etc now removed from the caravan and back in the awning. Along with 2 sun loungers, 3 fold up chairs, 2 Ikea chairs, a table, a tv unit, tv and freeview box. Once the table had been re-assembled it then homed an airfryer, slow cooker and microwave. Our caravan but all this stuff belongs to DD and the DGDs!! The electric and water got connected and now all DD has left to do is clean the caravan! She is going over between shifts this weekend.
Love all your stories about jewellery getting passed down. I have lots of stuff that belonged to my grandparents and great grandparents but not much jewellery. I have my grandmas china christening mug from 1893 and that is one of my most treasured possessions. It is so pretty. I have a box full of old photos, paperwork, marriage certificates, big family bible etc going back to around 1870. They provided loads of useful info when I started my family history research.
The kitchen fitters are still banging away and if we don't mind them having a late finish they say they will get the floor down tonight! We said we don't!! I just want it all finished and then I can do a good clean round everywhere!
Microwave tea is calling now as I am feeling a bit peckish. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
