^^ it is a bit relevant

If the user doesnt do online banking then my fake online banking page that i would have redirected his machine to wouldnt have been very fruitful.

On a side note - how does one cope in this day and age without doing online banking !!!???

Spot on Andy. Our branch of Nationwide is kept at the temperature of a Sauna, year round. Perhaps a good location to queque and lose a bit of weight.
Online is the way, of course.

Actually, Sis has just emailed me and said, "Of course Geraint has not got the password on my bt hub, but my own personal one when I want to go online. "
I think I was right to tell her that without her hub password, Geraint would not have been able to use her broadband? God knows what password she has given him!

Was that a Freudian spelling mistake for queue I did there. It might read a bit like cook, as in overheat!

After having my own IT business I can translate luddite....:rotfl:

She's given him the wifi password, what she is saying in luddite is she hasn't given him the admin password for the router. With a BT Homehub there's a card that comes with it which has both printed on.

So, will he have had internet use then, Tarambor?
I think luddite is a bit unfair. We aren't actually going round trying to disable the interweb!

Yes he would have had internet access ..

I would probly advise against your sis doing this in future - as i said above, the potential for mischief is strong.
And you never know who is a closet script kiddie wanting to practice their skills

I agree but having big issue with my bank at the moment.

I have always used Internet Banking despite the SSL not being secure, however, their mobile app has been dire.

The first one I installed a few years ago relied on iPhone security once installed, it only asked me for the three levels of authentication I get online when I first installed it. So I got rid of that.

Recently I was told it had been rewritten but now find they have updated up to support something called "Open Banking".

The idea of this terrifies me, the very LAST thing I want is for my banking to be open.

    https://www.openbanking.org.uk/home/what-is-open-banking/

They said that it is no different to Paypal but I disagreed, to me, my internet banking is a tool for me to view my banking and with the appropriate device to make payments within the banks IT system.

This new functionality appears to be a payment system, which I do not want or need as well as opening up my bank account to a load of companies (perhaps explicitly) that I do not trust

It seems to me that this Open Banking should be a separate app, this would allow me to NOT install it as I do not want to install any App with this ability because I simply do not trust the technology, the companies or the Government who initiated the idea.

I feel I will be deprived of using internet banking app if I have to have this system installed (which I do not need or want).

I want to have my internet banking without this back door to my bank account, I do not care about the so called benefits, I will never want it.

Am I being paranoid or just properly security conscious?
