Thomson Fly Drive

We booked a holiday to Orlando using Thomsons fly drive, it is for 5 adults & 1 child, and at the time the cost of booking flights was the same as the flydrive so just decided to go for it, now with 2 weeks to go we have no information on the car hire other than that it is through Alamo.
I have phoned and emailed numerous times and the live chat option is never available, I managed to get someone from Thomson on the phone to today and they said we need to upgrade to fully inclusive cover to be able to drive the car and I was quoted £750 for the two weeks, when if get a standard quote on Alamos website the same car (including full inclusive insurance) is only £450, how can Thomson justify this? Does anyone have experience of using the “free car” but getting separate insurance online for collision damage etc, I have checked a couple of websites and varies between £40-80, I’m unsure of what we actually need.

Don't speak with anyone at Tui again. It will just add to your concern. As long as you don't need to book an extra driver, you can go ahead and buy standalone insurance.
Click here for an earlier thread covering exactly what you need.
Do not go back to ask TUI about it. They will simply try to convince to buy their overpriced package. You don't need it, but you do need the insurance referenced in the thread linked to in this post.
One company not mentioned earlier is https://www.carhireexcess.co.uk, but just remember to tick the option for SUPPLEMENTAL LIABILITY INSURANCE.
So you have three providers from which to choose.0 -
Here is confirmation and some other useful info from another relevant thread.0
