It is a 64 (2014).
I realise that it might look like a small thing but I parted with a lot of cash and in my opinion, they should have rechecked the car prior to me picking it up to make sure everthing was functioning properly. Especially as it looks like the car was standing for a few months.
I don't think I am being unreasonable.
Noone is saying its a small thing - particularly coming in to the nicer weather - nor is anyone saying you're being unreasonable.
Its something that WILL be fixed either under warranty or by the dealer.
No need for you to worry or get annoyed about it.0 -
The fact that you chose to travel 40 miles to buy a used car does not mean you are entitled to a courtesy car, unless your warranty offers one.
The warranty is at the point of sale.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Quick update.
Rang the dealer and told them about the issue with the air conditioning. Apparently, the car was regassed and air con serviced in May 2017 less than 12 months ago. They have that information on their system but it is not in the service book I got with the car.
Initially, they said I would have to pay a diagnostic fee. I refused as I have only had the car a month and driven less than 220 miles and pointed out that the fault was most likely present when I received it. They backed down and waived the fee.
I was offered a loaner but they only time they have one available is this Friday which I can't do because of work, or in a fortnight. So I have it booked in for then.
Thank you to everyone who gave their time and offered advice.
I will keep you posted on what happens.0 -

By the way, I think that there will be a person to whom my message will be relevant. So, there is always a high probability that a thing purchased on the internet will come with some unpleasant surprises.. Because, you buy a pig in a poke. And you don't know what's waiting for you in the box.
Well, it can't be helped. Now you need to call the air conditioner repair service, so they made a diagnosis and then it will be clear how much money you need to invest in your A/C to work or not worth investing anything, then you should buy a new one with a guarantee. As for me, I had something similar when I bought a used air conditioner. I was lucky that my friend works in the air conditioner repair service (you can check the link, here's also useful information about A/C https://www.socool.sg/) and made me check the air conditioner for free. And so, I didn't have to replace anything, all the parts were good, I just had to clean the filters , which I did. So, if I were you, I'd call the air conditioning repair service to fix the problem.0
