Hi! This could be a combination of things; age & the new cat in the garden. One of our cats started doing this around the age of 12. She had used the outside all her life without any problems until one day, she started peeing in the corner of the living room. It took us some time to work out where the !!!8216;leak!!!8217; was coming from as it didn!!!8217;t even cross our minds that one of our cats could be the culprit until I saw her doing it. Around the same time she was also diagnosed as having hyperthyroidism. Linked or not, I don!!!8217;t know but we installed a litter tray in that corner and she used that until the end of her days.
Our current cat is 17/18yrs and she has had a couple of bouts of cystitis which was quite distressing to witness and at that point we installed her a litter tray as a !!!8216;temporary!!!8217; measure. We also noticed that she was a little reluctant to go outside preferring someone out there with her. This was probably due to a bolshey young cat from next door who was often around, wanting to come inside, occasionally also challenging her territory. We have also noticed that her hearing is now quite poor and came to the conclusion that she felt vulnerable going outside by herself due to the threats from the young cat but also because she could not hear the young cat approaching. She would get startled and easily cornered, adding to her stress. We have kept the litter tray and she uses that. On occasions she ventures outside when we are in the garden and then she might also visit the flowerbed for her business. From what I!!!8217;ve seen, around 12 years of age, cats tend to want to go outside less and less and prefer the comforts of indoors. I am happy to be able to provide choice of in- or outdoors for mine.

My cat is driving me mad with this same thing! Had her 9 years and no issue then she started going on the door mat ( inside one). I've scrubbed it and used all sorts of sprays and putting tin foil down helped eventually. I removed the foil and everything was cool for a few weeks then she did it again. Had to chuck the mat but she still does it on the concrete. It stinks and its disgusting. Yesterday she did it on the floor right next to the litter tray. I'm fed up.

I suggest you should have a litter box so that they can poop and pee there and this liiter box is designed to reduce odor, dust, and make cleaning easier.
