"Too many forum members seem unable or unwilling to abide by the forum rules. The forum staff team does not have the capacity to deal with this at present, so the forum has been closed for the time being"
Well, what a shame. A few half-wits and a valuable forum might be gone for ever.
Good job guys. Is that what you wanted?
Though I suppose you're all in this secret club or whatever it is that came to light a while ago, so you probably don't care.0 -
If they are unable to continue then I hope their pages can at least be reactivated in a read-only state because there was so much good information stored there.

I logged on briefly early yesterday and there were posts complaining about an increasing number of posts baiting the mods.
Hope there is a way to ban these half wits and get the forum back for the use of genuine investors.0 -
Unfortunately it seems to have been banning members, which has created some of the problems. That and a problem (possibly of the Administration not knowing who to trust) of getting a big enough pool of moderators to actively check what is a very large forum.
Like many others I hope the situation gets resolved, and if it involves restricting access for some then I think those of us who do appreciate the resource will understand that need.
Posters on any forum really should know what is acceptable and what is not and moderate themselves, maybe I just don't understand the thinking of those that seem unable to do that.0 -
This will be very useful and it's good to see some familiar faces over there already, but hopefully the mods over in P2PIF reopen soon and manage to return to something resembling normality, as I don't think we'll see an alternative with the same level of platform engagement - and this is key.MoneyGeoff wrote: »0 -
They *should* assuming they are all respectful and respectable members of society who put 'the greater good of the community' above their own need to vent, complain, attention-seek or troll. But the evidence from many forums is that they are not.The_Secret_Agent wrote: »Posters on any forum really should know what is acceptable and what is not and moderate themselves, maybe I just don't understand the thinking of those that seem unable to do that.
This particular board (savings and investments) does have people who troll or step over the line from time to time but is relatively benign compared to some of the other ones (within MSE forums and elsewhere) where some people seem to sign up just to have an argument or troll or rant or mislead others for self-interest.
Somewhere like the p2p forum is no doubt a tricky place to be a moderator because of the nature of what they are talking about - making unregulated or semi-regulated investments in financial assets, whether and why you can trust (or not) certain platforms or borrowers, facilitating dialogue between happy and unhappy customers and companies who have public relations and reputations to maintain, etc.
If you have people who are misbehaving (either subtly or blatantly) then 'banning the half-wits' is a good goal to have, but won't go down particularly well with those people who may feel aggrieved and just create new accounts while others who don't get kicked off might devote themselves to baiting the moderators further. Running a forum can seem like a thankless task even when you have hundreds or thousands of members who rely on it from time to time. Without a lot of resources and voluntary effort, no surprise that they may need to shutter from time to time or indefinitely.
I hope it returns though.0 -
I mainly ready it for updates on opinions on various loans and Collateral, I don't really know much on the politics going on with it all, but it was useful for some deeper information. I hope it returns it a better format and the other forum can pick up some information while all this continues with Collateral etc.
My P2P investments has become more simple of late and will be awaiting the other situations to resolve one way or another.0 -
When will collateral be resolved and I get my money?
When will moneything sort of the defaults so I get my money?
When will Lendy actually do some work so they can recover my money?
When will the countless loans I have with funding circle and assetz actually get out of default status?
Seems like p2p has been completely not worth it. Actual returns not much different then a bank account.0 -

Based on all of this, can't really disagree there. My focus is back on my S&S ISA investing, withdrew some interest from MT tonight, just to get whatever I can out as waiting on the rest is a slow process and Collateral is another kettle of fish.0
