Deactivate landline

I want to stop my land line as I seldom use and it far too expensive for me to keep it. How do I go about getting deactivated quickly without been further been charge for it.
I do not mind have it on monthly basis but all seem to want notices before leaving them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :T

As said landline only and no other services is a 30 day contract .Probable 30 days notice depending upon T&C.0
