I'm sitting here in tears because of Scottish Power and Eon - I don't know where to turn.

Thanks Poppy. Islam or was it Imran, told me he was a Complaints Resolution Manager when he phoned.

Until it gets sorted, I think you should cancel your DD to both SP and EoN - send both of them an email telling them this and the reason why the DD has been cancelled.

Add the fact that you have been paying for your energy twice and this is not allowed.

Did you raise a formal complaint IN WRITING with BOTH companies? Until you do, you will never get out of this mess nor get any resolution to your problem.

saying Scottish Power had NEVER supplied me

That is a possibility and not uncommon in flats. However if it were the case you would be due your money back for the last 6 years (more by goodwill).

To add: With flat's it's better to give them your known meter numbers rather than anything else when changing supplier (checked by turning off). as address's are often worng! And the newer the flats the more likely it is to be wrong (as the builder s care little).

Thanks all. I'm really surprised how much this has all upset me. Every time SP or Eon phone me or email me (with yet more nonsense) I get so wound up and I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall. It's really caused my anxiety to flare up. Silly I know, I'm supposed to be a grown up with a professional job but it's "small" things like this that can really knock you off your perch. I think it's the frustration, being talked to as if I'm a piece of !!!! or as if I'm stupid that does it for me. I just want to pay my bills and be left alone.

Yes, I have raised my complaint in writing (well, email) with both companies.

Quite worrying, isn't it, how crap the whole system is. My flat is an older flat.

    Morning Missko,

I'm sorry reps don't have access to PM on here, I can see you've now raised your issues with us with a complaints resolution manager.

That's the best thing to do and you now need to follow the procedure from there until a resolution is reached.

I wouldn't get involved now it has reached this stage.

I really do hope this is sorted out quickly for you.

    Thank you

I am sorry to hear that you cannot get involved or at least chase it up for the OP.

When my daughter had issues with N. Power the rep on here put us in touch with someone who telephoned and emailed us.

He was brilliant and sorted everything out for us.

I hope I do not have any issues in future as we are with EON!!!

Helena you and Malc are usually very good. I don't think it is acceptable for you to say you can do nothing. You can't duck out by saying its not my job.

You can forward this issue to the complaints manager, get an acknowledgement and advice OP accordingly.

    Good morning both,

The OP has emailed me offline and I can see the level that the complaint has reached and who this is with.

I wouldn't get involved as I could delay the process, I'm more than happy to email the complaint manager for the OP, but they do have each other's details.

It's also sitting with a specialist area of the business, so even if the OP had come to us very first off it's something Malc and I would need to hand off.

We do try our best to help as much as we can, but sometimes things have gone past us.

    Thank you

If all suppliers were obliged to do a credit check before processing a switch, problems like this would be flagged up immediately. Some idiot in our apartment block who can't type put our address in as his and as of today he is paying for two lots of leccy!
