Recommended order of Comparison Sites

It's meant to be in order of cheapest, but it seems Moneysupermarket are first on quite a few insurance products. So maybe they just are that competitive.
But a bit confused about travel insurance pages as I was on the hunt today for some last min insurance for my super last min sunny holiday, they don't have a table or even say it's the cheapest comparison site or number 1 etc, but they put their link first, on like 4 different occasions on the page...maybe that's deliberate?
I think by being linked first you'd be inclined to just check the first option, instead of going through all of the links available. Also, this site gets paid for each person that uses the links as it's got an asterisk on it anyway, so it probably doesn't matter who's link goes first to them. But It must be better for them if their parent company was getting tons of quotes from here!
Going to do my own test on travel insurance laterr anyway, see who's the cheapest for me! Won't just stick to the one linked first, just in case!
The sites have different panels anyway so it's always worth checking them all to be honest....I believe that if they are owned by an insurer, they have to be completely impartial too. They can't shove their parent company to the top of the prices list etc. Unless it genuinely is the cheapest for you.
It's all interesting though as I believe MSE have to be impartial as well. So maybe MSM are the best right now? But it just looks odd because they're owned by them?
I'm sure it's all fine!!0
