We had a similar requirement when my MIL passed away leaving hundreds of slides. I bought a secondhand projector and we all sat round deciding which to keep. I then scanned them and gave each family member a stick with them on.
So look on local for sale sites as there are often projectors and viewers for sale for little money. Facebook, Gumtree, Preloved are good.0
