Bonjour tout le monde,
Le jour est bon et le soleil est brille
Well enough of that :rotfl: my written French is now exhausted :rotfl:
Holly thanks for starting us off, I hope you managed a few hours of sleep & weren’t hanging around waiting for the forum maintenance to finish
My DH & I are up & having a cuppaWe can hear DSis’s radio blaring away but she is fast asleep as is her son :rotfl:
DH has fed the cats, will finish his coffee & then is off on his motorbike to bakery for croissants & pain au raisin :T & more black bin bags
Plan for today - finish emptying the v. Large attic, more Tip runs, more decluttering, more shouting between DSis & her DSwith DH & I trying to stay out of the way
Dinner tonight is spaghetti bolognese again as I did make a large batch of meat sauce on Tuesday & freezer emptying is one of the major decluttering jobs :rotfl:
So have a great day everyone, enjoy the sunshine & hugs to those who need or want them.
Au revoir

Good morning all,
JackieO I hope your arm has improved this morning.
I'm off out later with my friend (who is currently having chemo on Fridays). We're going shopping for some organic food as she has been eating healthily in the hopes that it will aid the treatment or at least offset some of the worst of it. I am taking her a bundle of rhubarb out of my garden. It's growing very well again and it's definitely organic.
First thing though - get dressed, drop the HT off at school and go to the gym. I'm doing the couch to 5k but I can see me having to repeat a couple of weeks here and there along the way.
Take care all of you.
Forgot to ask in my earlier post- how easy is it to grow rhubarb & will it grow in a clay based soil? My DH & I love rhubarb but it is soooo expensive
JackieO, hope the arm gets better soon & that you can enjoy the sunshine

Morning everyone,
Sunny and already warm, smashing.
Yesterday’s shopping trip was successful, picked up everything I needed including sunblock for my ponies pink noseand a new top for her mum, first purchase out of this years clothing budget so pleased with that.
Had an impromptu meal out with a couple of the other livery owners, we went to P*zza Exp armed with a voucher, lovely company and the food was ok so good evening.
Off food shopping soon and then bit of housework before heading over to see Lu.
OuchJackie hope your arm starts to feel better soon.
Take care all and have a good day x0 -
Good morning lovelies
What an amazing day again sun is here and clearly sticking around :j Thats it summer has arrived (well for 2 days anyway) Doesnt it change your mood in the right direction
So my first job today is to visit my local bank branch and have a dicky fit with them for their shocking customer service. Its odd really as I was only pondering the other day why some people on here visit the bank and building society so often when its a good 10 years since I had to. Anyway i need copies of statements for a contract Im going for which is another convoluted story ...could work really well for those with sleep issues
Will defo get some sun time today and this year I will put baby block on my nose to avoid the usual Rudolf impression as soon as I have a bit of sun. Sat out at a local pub last night with a few friends and it was packed ....some interesting sights as people think its now ok to head into short shorts despite marble skin and a fair few pounds extra on show :eek:
Right off I go its rant time
Jackiemum get well soon love keeping you under house arrest is similat to a caged tiger:(
Holly Enjoy your park time but remember red nose is not a good look and I know :rotfl:
Lainey I used to have dog with a lot of exposed skin on his nose so used to give him an adam ant stripe with sun cream as he adored lying right in the sun
Have a lovely day all:A0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Jackie hope the arm is better soon......and you are able to get out whilst we still have the sunshine.
Not sure who asked but yes you can grow rhubarb on clay, we have dinner plate type clay here and our rhubarb grows like a triffid. The thing to remember is it is a greedy feeder, requires feeding and water. When I was a child we grew ours in the compost heap. I usually force a single plant, and then rest it for the rest of the summer, we pull the rest regularly, I stop pulling early august.
Yesterday was not a brilliant day. The chap came to look at the floor in the wet room cupboard, even though it was resealed last week it is still leaking, he is recommending that the whole floor comes out, as the one board in the cupboard is rotten.
To compound the issue, OH fell in the garden again.......I am so sick of people who do not know us trying to tell me what to do. I was accused yesterday of bullying him to give up bowls, when it was his decision. I am mentally and physically exhausted, under continual stress coping with him. I live with him and have done for the last almost 30 years, I think I know him well enough now!! I know people try to be helpful, but really they are not it just puts extra pressure on me and makes me feel worse. I am not sleeping either which does not help. I am going to move into the sewing room bed for a few nights. I need sleep.
Sorry, this has turned into a rant. OH has always been very selfish, he is getting worse as he gets older. Someone suggested yesterday the we put in raised beds so OH does not have to bend and can garden from a chair, for heavens sake we are pensioners, they have no concept of how much it would cost to do that, its not something I can do, I would have to employ someone to do it, I know from experience it would cost a fortune and involve barrowing tons of soil in from the front to the back and then tipping it into the bed.
Supper tonight turkey steaks may be with saute potato's and veg. No dessert, we finished the crumble last night.0 -
Totally agree with Deleted_User about the rhubarb.
Juat want to add that there are different sorts....early, late, thick , thin....a friend can chop a piece off for you, you can ask at your local allotment site or sometimes get a tiny plant really cheaply at L*dl...or the £place. Do not pull stalks the first year. Do not eat after midsummer as the plant eed to build its energy and the stalks have more acid i them which is less good for you.
...off to lurk in the compost pile....0 -
Jackie, I hope the arm is better soon. Can't someone else drive to Norwich, it's only 2 days away, not long for your arm to recover completely?
We have some rhubarb in the garden on clay and it seems ok. It's the first year we can pull it. DH adores rhubarb and refuses to give it up even though he's been told it's a factor in his kidney stones.
Last day with Ziggypup, we'll miss her dreadfully but will also be gladof the extra freedom without her. She'll be back at the beginning of May for a few days though.
We had a lovely walk yesterday, although Ziggy flushed a muntjac deer out of a thicket and then ran after it. She went on the lead after that because there were so many pheasants around.0 -
Morning all
Hugs and spoons to those in need .
so how do 2 pristine mares go out naked ( no rugs) for the first time yesterday and come in like mud baked hippos!! Oh well it gave me some exercise cleaning them off. And repeat today no doubt.
Off to spit out all the excess hair I generated!!
