  • Any luck Ron? I've received my "welcome to digital banking" letter and my passnumber now, although it doesn't seem to prompt me for it when I attempt to log in. However, I still can't log in - I keep getting an error message saying one or more of the fields provided are wrong. I have spoken to the helpdesk and they say internet banking doesn't work for 7-10 days after the account is set up, which I find baffling. Very frustrating.

Card readers are interchangeable, do you have one from another bank?
I use my Natwest one for Nationwide, If you cant remember or set the memorable information you can reset it.

    **click memorable information
    **enter customer number
**click forgotten memorable information (it thens says to use your card reader and if you don't have one you will have to re register)
    **Click re-regisiter
    **Follow instructions

I just got a card reader in the mail. Took about 3 weeks from when I signed up.

I was SO encouraged to read that I could use another bank's card reader but Nationwide still won't let me log in .. grr. I can't reset my details as it's less than 7 days since I registered and I can't use memorable data as I wasn't asked to give it at any point.
Guess I'll just have to wait for their card reader to arrive.
This is NOT a simple process and I've set up internet banking several times before other banks but without any of this hassle.

1, You will need the card reader to login the online banking for the first time
2, The card reader may arrive many days (or weeks) after the card & PIN
3, If you can't (or don't want to) wait, just pop up in one of their branches, explain the situation, and take a free card reader from the branch
4, Alternatively, a card reader from a different bank might work too. But no guarantee.

Once you login the online banking for the first time, it will ask you to set the memorable questions.

Confusingly, I have a card reader from Co-op bank, and it didn't work for the first time. But once I log in successfully with a Nationwide card reader for the first time, the Co-op bank card reader works too. If you don't want to wait, just go to Nationwide branch and ask for a card reader.
