    Second Anniversary
i lived in a main street, with a car garage across the street, and it was a nightmare, as they kept parking in front of my house. i was an end house and i could never get parked. Apparently the entire street faught against him and won, but as i was new to the estate he chanced his arm with me and i had to take action.

parking in every space availale in the street. so wouldnt recommend it

I lived next to an 'unofficial' garage repair shop for a while. It wasn't that noisy but there were always car wrecks in and about the premises and lots of parked cars.

Thanks everyone, I was very unsure about the situation but yes, wanted some opinions to cement my view! It's one of only a few properties at the moment that fits our max rent/number of bedrooms/distance from the station criteria so didn't want to immediately rule it out but I think we'll have to. I hadn't even thought about the cats and anti freeze so thanks.

The proximity of the garage is why it fits your "max rent/number of bedrooms/distance from the station criteria" - you might have to review that criteria if places like this are the only ones turning up...

It's not and there have been other similar properties that fit them. The house we are in now is the same rent and is no where near anything like that! Unfortunately we have to move out of that. The only difference with the potential one is that it has an actual hallway (our front door opens onto the lounge), and a storage cellar.

    No.

My old property was near a garage and they basically used the whole street for parking of any vehicles that weren't actually in the workshop.

Was impossible for any visitors to get parked the 6 days a week they were open.

Exactly this, if it is an MOT test centre then they're looking at quick turnarounds. But that normally means people dropping cars off in the morning, and then not picking them up till later. Which means they need somewhere to park the finished cars.

Afaik, to reduce poisonings, these days they use propylene glycol in antifreeze, rather than ethylene glycol which was both toxic and tasty. The garage near me has 7 cats. They all seem quite healthy and happy. They aren’t bothered by the noise and clamber all over the cars being worked on. The only issue I know of is when one cat went home in someone’s van, but he was soon returned.
